Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The sixth main entry in the Resident Evil horror series, the game was originally released for the GameCube in North America and Japan in January 2005, and in Europe and Australia in March 2005. Intended to be a GameCube exclusive as part of the Capcom Five, the game was later released on PlayStation 2, and subsequently released for Microsoft Windows, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and in downsized versions for iOS, Zeebo and Android. In 2016, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4 would be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier instalments in the series.
