Player.com has to admit that Death Stranding was a great game with many likeable features, such as its compelling character and open-world design. Additionally, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut uses the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to fully immerse gamers in the experience. So, traversing terrain on the PS5 is a much more immersive experience than on the PS4. With so many highlights for Hideo Kojima to show off, Death Stranding 2 is gearing up to be one of the best action-adventure games of 2025.

6 Best Features We Hope to Find in Death Stranding 2
Death Stranding might be one of the slowest-paced games out there but it still managed to gather a loyal fan base. Its sequel isn’t out yet, but we’ve seen a trailer that promises better visuals and a longer campaign than its prequel. To that end, the original game wasn’t perfect so there are some features we would like to see in Death Stranding 2. Below, you’ll find six of them.
#1: Better Climbing Gear and Trickier Terrains
Climbing is a joyous experience in Death Stranding because there’s a variety of climbing tools at your disposal. Sam can traverse tricky terrain using climbing ropes and ladders, though the physics behind the ladders is messed up. The point is that there are many other gadgets out there and we don’t mind a variety of them (Low and high-tech gadgets). For one, rope zip lines would be a welcome addition to many players’ repertoire in Death Stranding 2.
To balance the new additions, we are also expecting trickier terrain throughout the campaign. That’s not too lofty an expectation for Kojima Productions and its level design team. Climbing is more technical in Death Stranding compared to games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Thankfully, it looks like Death Stranding 2 will continue the tradition.
#2: Ability to Play Music While Doing Missions
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is critically acclaimed by every gamer out there. If you like action shooters, what’s better than playing as a spy with future tech? One of the features that made the experience was that Solid Snake could listen to music on missions. So, the lack of music is breaking the experience in Death Stranding 2, especially as you could listen to music indoors.
Yes, Solid Snake had a music collection that was so good, it was almost like work music. We expect the same quality of music while on missions. In turn, navigating those terrains will be far more enjoyable with the appropriate music and mindset.
#3: New Vehicles and Better Animations for Them
We watched a trailer that showcases one of Death Stranding 2’s characters trying to flee from hostile forces. She rode a portable bike that seemed collapsible, with a baby strapped to her chest. Yes, the game will be ridiculously packed with details but we hope the vehicles are detailed too. Also, vehicles in the first game are of two types, which are called Reverse Trikes and Trucks. We would love to see more variety there, too.

For one, the ability to connect multiple trailers to your truck would be a great addition. That means new vehicle animations would be added. In Death Stranding 1, trucks simply stopped when they crashed. Hopefully, the developers will correct this issue with the right animations. Vehicles involved in crashes will bounce in Death Stranding 2 instead of coming to an awkward stop.
#4: The Ability to Recycle Gadgets, Tools, and Everything in Between
Vehicles aren’t bought in Death Stranding, they’re built from scratch. Hideo Kojima was the brain behind the success of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. So, resource management is still a core aspect of the gameplay. To satisfy our appetite for convenience, being able to recycle vehicles and gear would be nice.
The amount of material needed to construct a single vehicle is high. Kojima Productions could include the option to recycle vehicles at distribution centres, Preppers, and Safehouses. At this point, we don’t mind getting 60% of our construction materials back.
#5: An Online Multiplayer Mode
The first Death Stranding game doesn’t have any multiplayer modes. In its sequel, we hope to connect with other players online via a hub that lets you complete deliveries together. The option to also invite your friends to boss battles and survival missions would also be welcomed with open arms.
They could take inspiration from titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, GTA V, and Elden Ring. Those games feature PvP matches, which
could still centre around delivery-based missions from the first game. Another nice idea is a BT match where players with the highest BT kills win the round.
#6: Kojima Productions Should Dial up the Action
Death Stranding gets a lot of heat because of its delivery-based missions. So, Death Stranding 2 would benefit from more high-stakes missions, key ingredients to the success of the Metal Gear Solid games. For sure, the first game bored many with its repetitive missions, so we would love to see more action-oriented challenges. Why traverse super rough terrain just to deliver a package when Sam could use the hills as a vantage point?
Death Stranding 2 will benefit from espionage elements, gunfights, bombs, and action-packed cutscenes. That said, we don’t have any problem with delivering packages, but we would prefer more exotic settings. To that end, an Uber to the Moon doesn’t sound bad.
Our Final Say: Death Stranding 2 Is a Kojima Productions Game
Hideo Kojima broke many barriers throughout his partnership with Konami. Several years after the Metal Gear Solid games have been released, many enthusiasts will still recommend the game. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a testament to this series’ popularity. Hopefully, Hideo Kojima’s next game won’t be repetitive.
Frankly, though, we would likely give the sequel a good score since it’s still based on the prequel’s formula. However, getting more action-packed content would be nice. For a change, we would like to bring the heat to our enemies’ front doors.
