Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a puzzle platformer game built to test your problem-solving abilities. In the opening scene, Donkey Kong steals the Mario Toy Company and kidnaps all the mini Mario toys. Meanwhile, as Mario, you embark on a mission to rescue all the mini Mario toys scattered across different levels throughout 8 Diverse worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.

Some Mechanics and Puzzles Remain the Same in the Worlds in Mario vs Donkey Kong
Each new world you unlock presents ample challenges, allowing you to perceive how to tackle the new puzzle mechanics. However, to some extent, the core puzzle loop remains the same. Three colour switches are utilised; Judging these switches is crucial to intercept the correct path. The developer has incorporated blue, green, and red colour buttons along with coloured structures among only one active at a time.
Only the switch that has been pressed will be accessible to you, and you must press the colour switches to determine the exact path toward the key and eventually the door. Upon obtaining the key, unlocking the door allows you to progress to the next area of the level. Occasionally, keys come with a time constraint of 10-15 seconds, adding a sense of urgency to swiftly unlock the door within the allocated time frame.
Exciting New Worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake

The addition of two new worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake creates excitement within the audience. With 6 worlds from the GBA 2004 title, Nintendo includes 2 brand-new worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake. Both these worlds, Merry Mini-Land and Slippery Summit, add new puzzle mechanics to this remake version of the game.
Both these worlds contain 6 levels along with one guiding level and one final boss stage. If we look at Merry Mini Land, it’s a joyful circus with a lively environment, while Slippery Summit is an icy area filled with icy crystals and frozen lands.
World 1: Mario Toy Company
Mario Toy Company is the starting world in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake, where all the fuss started. This is the mini-Mario toy manufacturing company owned by Super Mario. The first task for Donkey Kong would be to escape from this area, while Mario would have to try to rescue as many mini Mario toys as he could.
This world isn’t very challenging in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake, so even a beginner can easily solve each level with ease. Some of the major threats include burning oil tanks that produce non-stop fire droplets. The spike areas, and reverse horizontal slides could confuse for a while but it becomes normal after 2 or 3 attempts for you. But the major hurdle is Sparks flowing from one pole to another, and Brickmen throwing bricks continuously.
If one of these enemies hits you, you will lose up to 1up (1UP is equal to 1 life). Puzzle systems include moving belts, spring jumps, lifts, and long iron pools with sparks. Powers like Iron Dustbin and hammer are available; You can also blast 2 toys together to defeat them.
World 2: Donkey Kong Jungle
Donkey Kong Jungle is another hideout, or here’s how we see it home to Donkey Kong. It is a fresh green jungle filled with trees, bushes, ropes, and many magnificent animals and birds that you are going to fight. This Jungle being home to Donkey Kong gives an edge over Mario. Mario has to figure out how to cross this jungle and come up with a strategy to rescue all other mini Marios.
The puzzle system is also on another level; Instead of lifts and blocks, you mostly see grassy areas and ropes in the jungle that help you navigate around. Also, do not fall for the soft bridge that will put you at the mercy of a Mad chipmunk.

But there are Venus Fire Traps all over the stages that easily wipe you out with their blast. On the other hand, Pink rhinos and angry birds that will throw eggs can cause you threats.
If you want to avoid these beasts, better navigate from rope to rope. However, Donkey Kong one of the favourite things that you can use against him is those bananas hanging in various spots throughout the jungle. You can throw bananas and other fruits to defeat all these jungle beasts.
World 3: Fire Mountain
Fire Mountain harbours high mountains with volcanic peaks, making it one of the most dangerous worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake. You may certainly be wondering what more menacing puzzles than these volcanic mountains are here, but wait, there is more than that.
If we look at puzzles, the combination of moving Ninji and lava-ignited lifts is lethal and wipes you out. To add to the fiery look, Nintendo moreover added a blazing parrot that flies across and stirs up trouble during your journey to these blazing lands.
Other fiery enemies you will meet on these volcanic hills are key-blazing toys that inflict waves of fire, and fireballs coming from underground that fully burn you. In the beginning levels of this world, you’ll only encounter a couple of enemies, but as you progress to higher levels, you’ll face more of them, which might make things challenging for you.
World 4: Merry Mini-Land
Merry Mini Land is themed on the circus, with a vibrant backdrop brimming with exhilaration, amusement, and a feeling of awe. There is no wonder why developers added this world in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake, all due to add a lively feeling to the game.

If we look at puzzle mechanics, blowing flowers and moving bombs are useful for solving many puzzles in this world. Blowing flowers helps you to access areas or assists in moving you above, which is not possible without their use. Although bombs pose a dangerous threat, they are very helpful in breaking certain loose walls. Another puzzle involves reaching places that are initially inaccessible until you pick up a movable spring to that area and then jump to reach it.
The threats you will encounter include bombs, and mortars that move right and left and continuously throw fireballs. Hoppycats and ninjas will also be waiting to pose a threat, so be careful. Even though it’s one of the spectacular and dazzling worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, it’s still filled with danger and puzzles.
World 5: Spooky House
After a joyful journey in Mini Merry-Land, a fight between Mario vs. Donkey Kong will begin in this Spooky House. The spooky house looms, shrouded in mist, its windows whispering secrets. Shadows dance, walls groan, and secrets linger in every creak. Mario must navigate the spectral halls, uncovering secrets while dodging the grasp of ghoulish foes and Donkey Kong. All these elements of terror make Spooky House one of the ominous and terrifying worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.
The puzzle system here is also on another level. First, you will see Thwomp, a giant spooky stone structure that can easily crush Mario when he moves from one block to another. Shield Pekka has also been on the guards, which would not be good for you either. Moreover, Key flying ghosts bother you while spring jumping and delay your journey.
But even though flying ghosts are your enemy, they mostly move on spiked areas so you can press a button and they will convert into small blocks that could help you to cross that area easily. With all the terror elements and these ghostly creatures, it’s not among the very difficult worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.
World 6: Slippery Summit
Besides Merry Mini-Land, it’s also one of the newly added worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake. So it may not be familiar if you’ve already played the GBA version. In this world, you’ll encounter slippery tiles that you must navigate carefully. To avoid slipping, you can jump, which will reset your sliding momentum.
In this frozen land, you will encounter some similar enemies that you used to, but there are still some special ones only native to this. While moving, icy spikes will fall on you, and you will see some frozen balls coming toward you. One difficult puzzle is by moving through ropes and dodging the icy spikes could be difficult for beginners.
The next puzzle is that there will be some mysterious boxes flying around the map to help you move from one part of the stage to another. The Brickman from the Mario company will also be here to stop you from rescuing Mini Marios, but you already defeated him, so that won’t be a problem for you here anymore. It’s one of the only frozen worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake that’s a bit difficult but still enjoyable.
World 7: Mystic Forest
We are again in the forest, but we went through the Donkey Kong jungle, right? So why again? It is a different one; Here you will see long pine trees all around that feel ethereal. From the puzzles and enemies present in Mystic Forest, It’s like saying, it’s a combination of Donkey Kong Jungle and Fire Mountain.

There’s nothing much special in this world; Nintendo only added the magical purple bats that give eerie vibes. Besides this, there are not any other puzzles or things we can discuss here while you experience all those mortal bombs, and ropes structures that you already went through. So we can say it’s one of the worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake that Nintendo did not give VIP treatment.
World 8: Twilight City
In the final world, Twilight City, Mario is on the brink of rescuing all his mini Mario, snatched by the cruel Donkey Kong. This city is adorned with stunning sunsets, painting the sky with vibrant colours. Amidst the bustling streets of Twilight City, illuminated by glowing lanterns, a magical atmosphere envelops the night. It’s a captivating world where the ultimate showdown between Mario and Donkey Kong is set to unfold.

Twilight City stands out as one of the most treacherous and challenging city worlds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake. The landscape is riddled with lasers that pose a constant threat to Mario’s safety, necessitating utmost caution with every step. Notably, this world introduces unique abilities, such as key toys capable of throwing wrenches.
Additionally, players encounter a colossal electric Pac-Man, serving both as an adversary and a mechanic; Players can cling onto its tail to navigate through hazardous areas and evade lasers. Nintendo has invested significant effort into crafting this distinct and formidable world.
