Dr DisRespect, aka Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, is a prominent figure in the gaming scene as a controversial American streamer for his trash-talking gameplay footage while dressed in real life as the Dr DisRespect persona.
Despite his outlandish attitude, Dr DisRespect conjured many iconic moments, notably winning the “Streamer of the Year” award at the Esports Industry Awards in 2017 and 2019 and raking over 4 million followers on Twitch before his sudden termination in June 2020.
Without disclosing any reasoning for his ban, Dr DisRespect returned to the scene on YouTube a month later, where he now has around 4.69 million subscribers. However, his controversies eventually caught up to him when a former Twitch staff member, Cody Conners, called out the streamer for “sexting a minor”, leading to Midnight Society terminating his contract and Dr DisRespect himself admitting his guilt.
Midnight Society Terminates Relationship with Dr DisRespect
Founded in 2021 with Robert Bowling and Quinn DelHoyo, Midnight Society has now terminated one of its co-founders (Dr DisRespect) as accusations and allegations resurfaced regarding the streamer’s ban from Twitch in 2020 when Cody Conners posted a tweet about the alleged reason, stating it was for “sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product”, a currently inactive private messaging service, and trying to meet her at TwitchCon.
After the tweet blew up on June 21, Dr DisRespect quickly debunked the allegations, stating that “no wrongdoing was acknowledged” by either him or Twitch over this ban and all matters were settled years ago. However, despite his claims of innocence, Midnight Society still decided to terminate their relationship with the streamer after an internal investigation to withhold principles.
In a statement posted on Twitter, they stated: “We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately. While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players.”
Dr DisRespect Finally Shreds Light on Twitch Ban
After days of criticism and accusations, Dr DisRespect finally took to Twitter and shared why Twitch banned him in 2020. According to Beahm, the situation was supposedly dealt with behind the scenes, and he was not allowed to speak about the incident. However, since two former Twitch employees called him out, he can finally share his perspective.
In his statement, Beahm stated he indeed was sharing inappropriate messages with a minor in 2017 but was adamant that there were no “real intentions” behind the messages, no pictures were shared, and the two never met. He stated it was a “casual, mutual conversation that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate”, and no criminal charges were brought against him.
However, no matter how appropriate or inappropriate the conversation is means little, as the matter of fact shows you were indeed messaging a minor as an adult, a husband and a father. Robert Bowling, a co-founder of his at Midnight Society, replied: “If you inappropriately message a minor, I cannot work with you. Period. I promised to only act on facts, and I did.”
Where Does Dr DisRespect Go From Here?
For starters, Beahm stated he would be taking a break from streaming, citing frustration and fatigue from the community’s outcry. “I already said what I needed to say. I don’t give a **** about this guy”, Beahm stated in his Elden Ring stream before announcing his plans for a vacation from streaming and an indefinite period of inactivity.

Laying low seems like the best direction for the controversial figure, as many of his sponsors, such as San Francisco 49ers, gaming accessory manufacturer Turtle Beach and 2K Games, will be cutting ties with Dr DisRespect, with no signs of a reconciliation.
It is an unfortunate or an ironically befitting end to one of the most popular streamers ever, as he may move on from streaming altogether. For more updates regarding Dr DisRespect and other figures in the gaming scene, follow our Instagram for timely updates.
