Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 has been released for around one month since January 30, yet the Poppy heat has continued till now. In Poppy Playtime 3, Mob Entertainment have introduced quite some new characters compared to the previous Poppy Playtime and Poppy Playtime 2. Within all characters, CatNap, the purple cat might just be one of the memorable elements in the game with his horrifying look. What adds to the fear is his presence since the very beginning of the game.
While you’re solving the puzzles, CatNap lurks in every corner watching you with those dreadful eyes. This toy, or say creature turns out to be the scariest-looking main antagonist compared to Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs, further increasing our will to learn more about CatNap, and also how to defeat him at the end of the game.
What Does CatNap Look Like?
The monstrous form of CatNap may probably be the one that first comes to mind, a huge cat covered with purple fur, and eyes displaying dark pupils surrounded by white irises. His mouth can open widely, lacking visible teeth, creating a void reminiscent of an abyss. He may look even scary in his hostile form, having a pallid grey skin tone, this skeletal form of it exhibits a notable amplification in his skeletal characteristics. His legs appear as mere skeletal structures, devoid of any flesh or fur.
Yet, the original cartoon form of CatNap may not look that haunting. In 2D form, the character is a humanoid cat with purple fur, black eyes, pointed ears, a dark nose, and an elongated tail. The hue of his paws mirrors the darker shade of purple found on the inner parts of his ears, looking cute but the eyes and mouth still look slightly scary with a large portion of black.

Who Is CatNap?
CatNap is part of the Smiling Critters cast, which is a popular plush line of colourful animals created by Playtime Co. who are infamous for their giant smiles. The group was teased in Project: Playtime Phase 2 via a poster on the “Destroy-a-Toy” map.
Background Story
We all know that the toys in Playtime Co. are not simple and have stories, and this is where the sad story comes in. In fact, lots of toys in Playtime Co. — are results of illegal experiments that were made up of children to toys. Theodore Grambell, one of the orphans in Home Sweet Home, was chosen and designated to inherit CatNap’s body, thus becoming experiment number 1188. Why did Theodore become the chosen one? There’s a short reason behind this. This was because he was guided by Experiment 1006 (The Prototype) and attempted to open the door for the orphans to escape.
He managed to get the GrabPack that we players are equipped with in the game, but due to his young age and lack of knowledge, he ended up being electrocuted by the green GrabPack hand and needed immediate medical attention, thus losing the chance to escape. Besides, as Theodore claimed that he has seen the Prototype, this makes him a potential candidate to becoming the guardian to control CatNap.
In the end, Theodore became the final chosen candidate within the several and became Playcare’s guardian, his child’s soul. CatNap was specifically designed for a unique purpose: to supervise Playcare and ensure that no orphans could escape, an ironic twist for poor Theodore.

CatNap’s Personality

CatNap was initially described as docile, gentle, bashful, and easily influenced. Despite his eerie appearance, he proved to be a calming presence in Playcare, taking his role as caretaker seriously, and ensuring the children got proper rest.
However, in the Bigger Bodies version, CatNap fervently worships the Prototype, promoting worship and condemning those who oppose him as heretics. He believes his purpose is to serve the Prototype, though the true nature of this objective remains mysterious. Despite his zealotry, he still shows compassion towards children, protecting them from harm even amidst his devotion to the Prototype.
CatNap’s Abilities and Anatomy
CatNap, along with the rest of the Smiling Critters cast, was specifically designed to oversee activities at Playcare and care for the orphans there, despite being removed from shelves due to causing nightmares. Rumours suggest he’s now considered an “Exclusive” character. One of his main abilities, experimented by Doctor Harley Sawyer, involves emitting a special gas known as “The Red Smoke”, intended to help children sleep but often causing hallucinations and unconsciousness.
CatNap’s feline anatomy grants him agility and speed, along with retractable metallic claws capable of carving messages into walls. Despite his appearance as a toy, his demise reveals an organic nature, with blood and skeletal features beneath his skin.
How to Defeat CatNap?
Facing such a terrifying creature on his paws to rip you apart, how do you defeat it? The final challenge in Poppy Playtime 3 is to defeat CatNap, which isn’t easy to defeat. So how do you do it?
