The Nintendo Switch is a fantastic handheld console with plenty of power and exclusives. The likes of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Splatoon 3. So, Player.com is excited for the Nintendo Switch 2’s release since it’ll launch with even more power.

However, while the appeal of playing new Nintendo games is immeasurable, we don’t know much about Nintendo’s new console. There’s no news about its speed, design, and battery life for now, but certain leaks and influential figures in the gaming industry seem to think the Nintendo Switch 2 can be released in 2024.

The Nintendo Switch’s Strong Legacy 

The Nintendo Switch is a capable console that can be paired up with your TV to experience worlds of wonders. You can also compete against a friend or play together to complete missions in Splatoon 3. Having mentioned those points, Nintendo’s current handheld has been going strong for more than six years now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Its success isn’t surprising because the Nintendo Switch combines the at-home prospects of game consoles with gaming on-the-go. It’s like playing chess on your iPhone but with better graphics and high-tier in-game mechanics. A testament to the console’s might is that Nintendo has sold more than 132 million copies. 

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch and its games, analysts supposedly believe that the company’s revenue is up by a whopping 200%. The best part (At least for Nintendo) is that the company’s sales have been consistent for more than five years. Nintendo is milking the appeal of game protagonists such as Mario and Link. The same momentum will extend to the Nintendo Switch 2 whenever it’s released.

A Drop in Innovation Is Equal to a Drop in Sales

Reports suggest that Nintendo’s sales haven’t been consistent, and that’s because of the company’s lack of innovation. There’s talk that its profits have reduced by 19%, which means that Nintendo needs a new golden goose soon. However, we believe the company will always profit from their other games. Heck, the Nintendo Switch will still be a perfect holiday gift after the Nintendo Switch 2 is released. Let’s also remember that Nintendo hasn’t declared its December-quarter profits yet.

Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks and Analyst’s Predictions

The clear answer to Nintendo’s dip in sales is to release the second generation of the Nintendo Switch. Yes, it seems that the upcoming handheld will walk the same path as the first generation, so expect a hybrid experience. In short, you can hook the Nintendo Switch 2 to your TV and play games as if you’re playing a traditional console.

Don’t expect PC-grade visuals because you can only fit so much power in a handheld console. The company also emphasises that the second generation of the Nintendo Switch will be a new machine entirely. That means that it won’t be a mere upgrade over the original handheld, so we can expect a brighter and sharper display, better speakers, more processing power, and a bigger base storage option. 

However, no leaks or concrete news suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2024. So, we can only wait and see. Hopefully, Nintendo will announce the handheld console before Q1 runs out, but that’s just an optimistic mindset because the company hasn’t dropped any hints so far. 

The Altec Lansing Slip-Up

The Altec Lansing slip-up refers to a previous reveal from an AI company. Altec Lansing revealed that it was releasing a new AI gaming package called AI Shark. The new package will supposedly change how video games are made for the better. The press release suggested that the software will debut along with the Nintendo Switch 2 when it’s released. 

The AI company said, “Formerly known as GameShark, AI Shark is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology”, Altec Lansing broke things down further in a press. “The innovative gaming software is set to mark a significant leap forward in the gaming experience, bringing enhanced gameplay for beginner-level users. The official launch is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024”.

Despite Altec Lansing suggesting that the Nintendo Switch 2 would launch in September 2024, we don’t know how accurate this news is. For one, Nintendo may decide to postpone the console’s release. Heck, it might even be the correct date, but it all boils down to the Japanese company’s decision. Already, both companies are trying to cover up the slip-up. If you talk to one of their representatives, they’ll suggest you wait until Nintendo Direct officially announces the portable console.

Our Final Say: Nintendo Switch 2 Can Possibly be Released in the Second Half of 2024

There’s a strong possibility that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2024. To be more specific, it’ll launch in either Q3 or Q4 of 2024. Like every other major console maker, we can also look forward to playing new exclusives at launch.  The Nintendo Switch 2’s future is almost certain that it will take in tons of profits for Nintendo. 

Fortunately, some games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Elden Ring may finally come to the Nintendo Switch 2. The new console will obviously be faster than the first-gen device. It may have enough power to smoothly run all those demanding AAA titles. Hopefully, we won’t have to break the bank to afford the Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, the Nintendo Switch OLED costs $350, so the next-gen handheld console should cost less than $500 if Nintendo wants to attract even more customers.
