The studio behind Ghost of Tsushima has introduced a new Easter Egg to the game and it’s up to players to find it. The Easter Egg is an armour/clothing that reminds us of Aloy’s armour from Guerilla Games’ Forbidden series. If you enjoyed that game, then you should uncover this armour. All you have to do is just solve a puzzle. Pretty simple, right?

What’s the Forbidden Shrine?
The Forbidden Shrine is located in the northern part of Iki Island. Please note that only players who have purchased the Iki Island DLC will be able to access this map. You can easily find the shrine just northwest of Fort Sakai and north of Sly Hunter’s forest. Granted you’re playing the latest version of Ghost of Tsushima, just fast travel to the area. The most obvious clue that you have arrived at the right place is a scroll that says:
“The old world is gone, though life is never-ending. Focus your spirit, take the archer’s mantle. A seeker must aim for truth.“
How to Beat the Forbidden Shrine Puzzle?

Now that you’re in the shrine, it’s time to solve the puzzle. You can do that by following the step-by-step guide below.
- First, equip Tadayori’s Armour from the gear menu. If you don’t have this armour set, complete a Mythic Tale in the base game called “The Legend of Tadayori”.
- Press down the touchpad on your Dualsense wireless controller to enter the hearing mode.
- You see the top of the structure that’s glowing red? Just draw your bow and arrow and then shoot it once. After being shot, it’ll glow blue.
- Two other spots that are glowing red will appear at the back of the structure. Shoot them each once and they’ll start glowing blue.
Congratulations! You’ve solved the puzzle and you should receive the Sign of the Hunter headband and the Seeker’s Attire. That’s about it.
Unlocking Tadayori’s Armour

This is an optional guide for players who haven’t unlocked Tadayori’s armour. To unlock it, you only need to complete the Legend of Tadayori quest line. Thankfully, you can do it in just a couple of steps like so.
- Head to the Azamo Prefecture in the southwest of Izahara. Look for a camp near the Rustling Bend where a musician will offer you the quest.
- From there, head to Crown of Violets to find the armour. Open the world map to pinpoint its exact location.
- Reach the summit and you’ll find a map that leads to Tadayori’s rest, which isn’t available on the map.
- Now, head north until you reach Houren’s Pasture and then take the path near a rock wall. The path leads to a hidden graveyard and it’ll be highlighted with a lantern.
- Fight Kaede and then head to Azamo Bay to save the musician who gave you the quest.
- You can find the armour beneath a stone monument around Azamo Bay.
Our Final Say
This isn’t the first guest appearance in Ghost of Tsushima, seeing as there’s also a Sly Cooper armour which you can find by completing the Mythic Tale, The Unbreakable Gosaku. Sony has a rather robust library of exclusive games, so the Forbidden West Easter Egg is probably not the last guest appearance in Ghost of Tsushima.
In fact, Sony is known for hiding Easter Eggs in all of their games, so always keep your eyes peeled. You never know what you’ll discover if you’re curious.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who Are the Hardest Bosses in Ghost of Tsushima?
Ankhsar Khatun aka The Eagle, is one of the toughest bosses in Ghost of Tsushima because of her large combo set. To meet her, you must first purchase the Iki Islan
DLC. The reason why she’s so tough to beat is because of the damage her attacks cause. If you’re not serious, most of your health will be gone by the time she completes a full combo.
So, healing yourself with your resolve is the best tactic here, not special attacks. It should also be said that she uses both a sword and a spear so you’ll be left guessing which one she’ll start the fight with. But once you’ve gotten used to her skill sets, you should easily be able to keep up. Just make sure your parrying game is tight. Right after her, we’ve got Khoutan Khan and Lord Shimura. Khoutan Khan is a tough boss because of his goons. As for Lord Shimura, he’s fast and adept at parrying and dodging attacks once you start getting comfortable landing hits.
Is Genghis Khan in Ghost of Tsushima?
No, Genghis Khan isn’t present in the Ghost of Tsushima timeline. Rather, his grandson, Khoutan Khan is introduced as the game’s main antagonist. It turns out that Khoutan is a successful general who was tasked with conquering Japan by his cousin, Kublai Khan. Unfortunately, the Japanese Samurais turned out to be a great adversary, so his war campaign didn’t exactly go according to the plan.
Is the Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Upgrade Worth It?
Not really. The only difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions of Ghost of Tsushima is that the latter version loads faster. Aspects of the game like the graphics don’t change much. But if frame rates are your thing, you’ll be happy to know that the bump to PS5 ensures frame rates of 60 FPS.
To us, the price isn’t worth it and it can be excellent ammo for PC players. At $20, the Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC is a great example of what DLC content should look like. However, Sony usually offers the PS5 upgrade at a discount so be sure to look out for that. Sometimes, the discount is as small as $10.
