Beating Chapter Two: The Quest for Tyr
Head to Nidavellir
You travel by ship from Svartalfheim to Nidavellir. After exploring your surroundings for a health stone and your very first Odin Raven, you’ll help Atreus deal with some Wretches. Once you’re on the boat, you can row your way along the Aurvangar Wetlands river. You’ll come across two paths before you reach the second section of the river. Explore both of them to get some Hacksilver.

You should soon find a geyser blocking your way which you can freeze with your axe. Explore the area and destroy the three runes to unlock your first Nornir chest in the game. Nornir Chests are important because they contain Idunn Apples which you can use to increase your max health. Back to the runes, you can find the elusive third rune by the second geyser, at the base of a tree.

Explore the area to find a zipline leading to a new group of enemies, the Grim. They’re very mobile so use the Blades of Chaos because of its wide damage area. Climb up a chain leading to the broken wheel, then turn it to create a path for your boat. Explore the other side of the bridge to find some Yggdrasil’s Dew. Continue to the docking area after looting barrels of Hacksilver, then clear the groups of Wretches and Grim waiting to pounce on any traveler.

Climb onto the ledge after you’ve looted the dead enemies to loot some more resources including two rawhide. Continue to the second docking area, clear the enemies waiting for you there, and freeze two geysers to continue to open the gate. Explore the other side of the dock to truly open the gate. You’ll encounter an Ormr, which are very fast creatures. Flank it to beat it.
Track Down Durlin in Nidavellir
Once you’re in Nidavellir, head to the Tavern that Sindri recommended to track down Durlin. Another one of Odin’s ravens is in the area too. Speak Sindri in the market to upgrade Atreus’ bow so Kratos’ son can now fire Sonic arrows. Continue through the gate that Atreus destroyed to find a tavern, where you’ll speak to a dwarf playing the Hurdy Gurdy.

After uncovering Durlin’s whereabouts, you head to your boat using a Dwarven Compass. Follow the river using the compass until you reach Durlin’s office. Along the way, you’ll find another path that leads to the Bay of Bounty, which is a great spot to farm for resources. After Durlin fines you, it turns out that the fine was actually a map to Tyr’s location.

You head to the mine beyond the mountain and along the way, you’ll encounter some Enhanced Grim. Here are some tips to clear this next wave of enemies.
- Watch out for the poison pools
- Return the projectiles back using the Dauntless Shield
- Hit the red vases to inflict explosion damage

Clear the remaining enemies and take the train up to the top of the mountain to find another train, which is broken. Explore the path to find a hole in the rock wall that leads to an encounter with a Dreki. A Dreki looks like a crocodile.
Defeating the Dreki

A Dreki enters the scene with five health bars for you to deplete. Thankfully, all of the Dreki’s attacks are blockable, including the ball of toxic saliva. Once you’ve reduced the Dreki’s health to half, it starts raining down electricity on Kratos, which is unblockable. Also, the Dreki’s ball of saliva is now electrified and due to its fast movements, it’s tricky to kill it. So, here’s the major tip we have for you. Keep your distance and attack only after you’ve stunned the Dreki
Once you’ve defeated the Dreki, you can now continue along the path to fix the broken train. Get the train working and continue your journey to the mine. You’ll encounter a lot of Wretches and Grims along the way. The icing on the cake, however, is the troll, Daudi Vordr.
Find Tyr in the Mines
Explore the area before the mines to defeat enemies and earn XP. Don’t forget to explore any alternate paths for Hacksilver and healthstones. Following the trail of the enemies, you’ll encounter a large gap, which you’ll transverse with a zipline. You’ll enter a small doorway that leads to Jarnsmida Pitmines. But alas, a gate is blocking your way. Throw your axe at the end of a trough nearby to spill water onto a wheel. Freeze the wheel and continue down the path to explore the mine with Atreus.

Continue through the area to find some locked gates that you can unlock with the help of Atreus. Once you and Atreus have opened the last gate, simply use the doorway, heading southeast, until you encounter Sindri again. Soon enough, you’ll encounter some Curses Grims. Just destroy the posts so the Grims don’t get an height advantage and head inside the mine.
Beating Bergsra
You’ll encounter Bergsra, the mother of the Grims. Block or parry all yellow attacks with your shield and dodge any unblockable attack marked in red. Some of the tips for beating Bergsra are:
- Avoid her unblockable slam attacks
- Defeat Wretches for healthstones
- Always roll out of the way of her charge attacks
- Unleash a flurry of attack whenever Bergsra squats to spawn Wretches
Explore the area using the boat and explore the mine with Atreus to find the Rune Read and Lore Marker. Soon, you’ll come across a water trough puzzle. Beat the puzzle by jumping down the ledge to your right and then climbing a chain to reach the top of the platform. Use your Blades of Chaos to stop the water and get the elevator working.

Escape the Mines with Tyr
Go deeper into the mine to free Tyr although you’ll encounter some Einherjar along the way. Free Tyr and make your way out of the mimes. You’ll find a Mystic Gateway soon, which leads to Sindri’s house.

Beating Chapter Three: Old Friends
You’ll return to Midgard as Atreus using a Mystic Gateway. Follow Sindri through the snowy path to find Jormungandr. On your way up, you’ll eventually come across a Draugr. You can take it down quickly using Atreus’ unlimited arrows. Also, only deal melee attacks when it’s stunned. Talk to Jormungandr and head to Freya’s location using a Mystic Gateway. You’ll have to cut through a mountain using a cave, ledges, tight enclosures, and tunnels on your way down to Freya in a valley. On your way to her, you only need to explore a bit to find Hacksilver, leather, and other resources.

Any path that leads to a dead end will most likely reward you, so take your time. You’ll encounter Nightmares and Draugrs along the way. But don’t worry, because your efforts will be rewarded with a new ally – Freya. Travel back to Sindri and make your way to Alfheim with the help of Ratatoskr, a mythical squirrel, after he polishes the resin off your Yggdrasil seed.
Beating Chapter Four: Groa’s Secret
Go to Groa’s Temple Atop the Mountain

After arriving in The Strond via the Mystic Gateway, follow Tyr as you encounter Light Elves and Wretches with new abilities. Here are tips for the journey:
- Just follow Tyr and Atreus
- There are three Nornir Chests on your way to the Temple
- Dodge Wretches when they’re about to die after rolling towards you
- Throw back the bombs before they explode to cheese your encounters with Light Elves
- Kill the Exploding Nightmares from a distance
- You can block the beams of light from the Elves
- Approach quickly and double-tap L1 to cancel blue-ring Elf attacks by breaking your opponents’ shield
Go Down the Light Well

You’ll meet up with Sindri at the top after building the bridge. Buy all the necessary upgrades and materials and descend down the light well. Kratos’ efforts to the bottom will be interrupted by Light Elves and Wretches.
Just make sure to fire lots of arrows to interrupt enemies mid-combat. Besides that, always dodge the unblockable attacks. Keep following Tyr down the Light Well till you encounter Alva.
Defeating Alva
Alva is a much stronger elf than the Light Elves you’ve encountered before. She’s fast and her attacks will eat through your health like a hot knife through butter. To defeat Alva, check out these tips.
- Move! She’s fast so you need to be rolling and dodging around the environment to escape her attacks
- Always aim to parry Alva’s attacks, at least the ones that aren’t unblockable
- A fully charged axe throw with R2 will always interrupt Alva’s attacks
- Interrupt Alva’s attempt to heal by double-tapping L1
- Dodge her multiple X-shaped beam attacks
- Deplete Atreus’ arrows quickly
- Healthstones are scarce in this stage

Continue down the well with Tyr and kill the Dark Elves on your way to the Mystic Gateway. You’ll encounter Summoners that have the ability to call for reinforcements from the area. Eliminate them first. Then make your way through a Mystic Gateway to Sindri. After a fight between Kratos and Atreus, Atreus dreams of Angrboda.
