Hideo Kojima is the brilliant mind behind the Metal Gear Solid games, including Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The game was his last title with Konami and it was his masterpiece for a while until Death Stranding. Now, Kojima Productions has announced a new partnership with Sony to create an action-espionage game called Physint. It’s delightfully reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid games. A game that every critic at Player.com gave a positive review.

Hideo Kojima’s Work on the Metal Gear Solid Games Is Revolutionary
The Metal Gear Solid games under Hideo Kojima played like Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. He had mastered cutscenes, camera POVs, and storytelling, so he always blurred between the lines of cinematography and video games. So, we’re excited for his latest games, including Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Physint.
That said, Hideo Kojima’s latest work with Sony will be released after Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been launched. So, we’re still looking at two years of development at the least. Supposedly, the new game will be a culmination of his experiences designing games, including Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
In Hideo Kojima’s Words
Hideo Kojima shared a few words with fans and critics alike during the State of Play announcement. He said, “Preparations are underway, but production will begin in earnest at Kojima Productions after Death Stranding 2”. He continued, “Of course, it is an interactive game, but it is also a movie at the same time, in terms of look, story, theme, cast, acting, fashion and sound. With this title, we hope to transcend the barriers between film and video games”.
We just hope it’s nothing like Quantum Break, a game that failed because it was too brilliant. For one, Quantum Break’s visuals are breathtakingly good and sure, it was a few years ahead of its time. However, not everyone liked the live-action part of the game. All that said, Microsoft and Remedy Entertainment didn’t have Hideo Kojima on their team. We’ve got nothing against the latter; Quite the contrary! Player.com is loving Alan Wake 2 to date.
Four Features We Would Love to See in His New Game
Below are the four features we expect to see in Kojima Productions’ new IP. The game may not hit the shelves until 2025 and we’re being modest. Before then, you can enjoy the highlights of the Metal Gear Solid series and how Kojima Productions could better the experience.
#1: Detailed and Huge Sandbox
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was a fantastic title that let you roam Africa and the Middle East with your horse, a range of vehicles, and helicopters. That’s because the sandbox is huge enough for the developers to detail it with outposts, side missions, and flora. Now, imagine what Hideo Kojima will be capable of with the PS5.

We’re excited to get more news about Sony’s new stealth game because Horizon Forbidden West confirms that the PS5 is beyond capable. It can render photorealistic worlds with lifelike characters and flora/fauna that almost seem alive. With Hideo Kojima’s new game, Physint, we should expect a similar sandbox that’s populated by compelling characters. We say this because Sony is reportedly working closely with his studio to create a game that’ll speak volumes of the PS5’s processing capabilities.
#2: Ingenious Espionage Weapons, Tools, and Gears
The idea behind Metal Gears in the Metal Gear Solid games is to inspire fear of a militaristic future in gamers. What if there were weapons with advanced AI that could subjugate cities and nations by themselves? Heck, the game introduces some Metal Gears that could invade regions to fire a nuclear bomb, which is a scary thought.

It also introduced some nifty gear, such as the Walker Gear, which allows gamers to move around on bipedal vehicles with an arm. So, Player.com is interested in other ingenious weapons that Kojima Productions will come up with.
#3: A Storyline That Tops That of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
The storyline in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was stupendous. A new Metal Gear has been created and it’s not a behemoth like the usual war machines that the franchise is known for. Rather, the villain introduces a new type of parasite that only kills English speakers. Quiet, Solid Snake’s confidant and admirer couldn’t show her feelings to him because she was patient zero and Solid Snake only speaks English.

So, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s campaign interweaves romance with sci-fi to a satisfactory degree. In Physint, we don’t want a similar experience, but a better campaign than the one in the fifth instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series. We’re not script writers but we’re looking forward to a great campaign that we can dump dozens of hours into.
#4: Colourful Characters That Will Make Us Go “Sir, Yes, Sir”
The Metal Gear Solid series and both Death Stranding games make up the bulk of Hideo Kojima’s portfolio. Judging by their ratings, he’s a visionary man who is capable of intricate level designs and arrangements. He knows his A-B-Cs, which is why all of his characters are lifelike. Fun fact! Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a double with similar skills to the original.

Hideo Kojima can pick a character and write a plotline that simply falls into place in the jigsaw called single-player campaigns. So, we expect to meet tons of memorable characters besides the protagonist in Physint; Ones like Revolver Ocelot, who we still remember years after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Our Final Say: Kojima Productions Will Surely Impress
Kojima Productions’ track record has been great and that extends to games that Hideo Kojima produced for Konami. Couple his genius with the power of the PS5 and we surely have a banger in our hands. We hope to see a demo of the game and the name of our protagonist, too. Hopefully, Kojima Productions will be ready for us soon. After all, we’re still dealing with the reality that it could be a PS5 Pro or PS6 exclusive.
