Bully is an action-adventure title developed by Rockstar Vancouver that was released in 2006. It follows the adventures of James Jimmy Hopkins as he rises up the ranks in high school. As the name sounds, Bully lets you antagonise other students. The list includes students who aren’t bullies themselves, which was why it was a controversial game upon launch and the questionable decision to create Bully Remake.
However, Player.com and fans alike loved the game’s storyline and interesting characters. Bully also highlights the importance of power hierarchies in our society. For one, everyone fights for power at every level. Having said that, Bully is still a fun game that both adults and teenagers will love. However, is a Bully 2 really better than a Bully remake?

5 Reasons for a Bully Remake
2006 is a long time ago so consider the graphics of every Bully edition available outdated. Already, games such as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater are getting remakes. So, Rockstar Games can benefit from create Bully remake from scratch. Besides the graphical benefits of remaking the game, below are five other reasons for a Bully remake.
#1: Exploring the Archetypes Were Fun
There were different archetypes in Bully, including Bullies, Jocks, Preppies, Nerds, Townies, and Greasers. They were unique and offered different explorative experiences throughout the six chapters of the game, making them hard to replace when creating Bully remake.
- Townies: Townies are delinquents of Bullworth who live in the town but have been expelled from the school. Some of them are drug addicts while others have robbed innocents before.
- Greasers: The Greasers are one of the five cliques in Bullworth Academy and it’s headed by Johnny Vincent. They’re easy to recognise due to their slicked-back hairstyles, which are drenched in pomade or oil (Hence the name Greasers).
- Bullies: You’ll know they’re Bullies when you notice their untucked white shirts. Clique members will pick on everyone weaker than them, which sadly, encompasses the Nerds. Still, they’re the second weakest clique in Bully just behind the Nerds.
- Preppies: Preppies are another clique in Bully that holds a lot of sway in Bullworth Academy. Clique members usually part their hair and wear Aquaberry vests. Preppies are rich and yes, they look down on anyone below their status. The main weapons of this clique are eggs and Cricket Bats. Players eventually had to convince them to help you in the game against the Greasers.
#2: Attending Classes Is Fun
The five Classes in Bully are minigames that increase in difficulty as you pass each one. Thankfully, gamers will win clothing items and crafting abilities after each course. For instance, passing English classes allows James to lie to authority figures without being caught. Chemistry Classes, on the other hand, will let our favourite bully craft throwables. A recommended place to invest your time and efforts in for the long run in Bully remake.
If you prefer throwing punches instead, then you should always ace your Gym classes. Passing the course will unlock new combat moves to easily decimate the different archetypes in Bully. In general, attending Classes lets you fight enemies using Stink Bombs, Planks of Wood, Itching Powder, and Spud Guns. These hilarious quirks are anticipated by fans and hope to see in the release of Bully remake.
#3: Mischievous Soundtracks Add to Its Appeal
Mischievous soundtracks edge players to take bigger risks throughout the campaign. Sure, we can’t overlook the fact that there are over 39,000 lines of conversation in the game. However, the game still suffers from repetitive dialogues during free exploration, which many players hoped to not see in Bully remake.

Thankfully, Bully’s soundtracks and audio are some of the finest in the industry. They’re akin to the classic Super Mario scores because of their subtlety. The score was composed by Shawn Lee and company and it accurately portrays Bullworth and its school academy.
#4: Bully’s Humour Deserves a Remake
If you’ve never finished a GTA game before, chances are, you’ll finish Bully because of its grounded storyline. For one, many gamers aren’t criminals or ex-soldiers, so they can’t fully connect with the protagonists of GTA games. On the bright side, James is a regular high school bully who only uses Stink Bombs and Spud Guns instead of rocket launchers and grenades.

It doesn’t get funnier than playing coy with the authorities while forming alliances with cliques to fight other cliques. It’s all a roller coaster of comedy, especially as each fight will only result in bruised egos throughout school, so be careful when getting into a fight in Bully remake.
#5: Exploring with a Scooter or Bike Is Fun
Most video games nowadays have popularised vehicles, so GTA V is also full of races to get your adrenaline pumping. However, the events of Bully play out at a much-sedated pace because you’re not old enough to drive. So, skating or riding your scooter or bike was always a fun experience. You had to watch out for the authorities while traversing the corners and alleys of Bullworth.
3 Reasons for a Bully 2
Bully was released for the PS2, so it’s way overdue for a sequel with better RPG mechanics and a bigger playing field. To that end, below are the three reasons for a Bully 2 instead of a Bully remake.
#1: Bully 2 Would Be a Nice Break from the GTA and Red Dead Redemption Franchise
The GTA and Red Dead Redemption game series have been getting more love from Rockstar Games than other franchises in the studio’s portfolio. Bully 2 would be a nice break from the usual robberies in Red Dead Redemption and GTA V. Instead, Player.com and fans alike would enjoy a nostalgic experience. Who knows? James Hopkins might have grown up in Bully 2, so we’re interested in his new challenges instead of hoping for Bully remake.
#2: Bullworth Still Has Many Stories to Tell
The sandbox of Bully is intricately detailed down to its NPCs and storyline. However, its graphics are poor, compared to today’s standards. Yet, Bully’s many flaws are great from a critic’s perspective. For one, Bully 2 will be a show off of the many improvements made to the sequel. There weren’t enough Minigames and thus unlockable skills to enjoy in the first game.
#3: A Loyal Fanbase Awaits
Bully rocks a loyal fanbase to date because of its initial success and great campaign. So, fans will purchase a Bully remake or Bully 2 if it’s ever released. However, we’re of the opinion that Bully 2 is a clean slate for Rockstar Games, so it should be prioritised over a remake.
Our Final Say: Bully 2 Was Cancelled for GTA Online
GTA games sell like hot cakes and GTA 6 won’t be any different judging by its next-gen graphics. Hence, it came as no surprise that Bully 2 and other IPs would be cancelled. Hopefully, Rockstar Games will kickstart the project later on. However, remember that Bully 2 has already been scrapped multiple times already.
