Google are emphasising more personalisation to their platforms this January. This can be seen from one of the latest updates that brings on more personalisation for users with new generative AI features on Chrome. Chrome isn’t the only platform that bolds on the word ‘Personalisation’, but also the widely used virtual meeting platform Google Meet.
To enhance user experience and add a touch of personalisation to virtual meetings, Google Meet enhancements are introduced. The revamped user interface not only promises a more seamless visual experience but also opens up new possibilities for customisation, allowing users to personalise their virtual backgrounds and overall meeting appearance. Let’s delve into the details of these Google Meet enhancements and explore how they contribute to a more engaging and personalised video conferencing experience.
What Are the Google Meet Enhancements?
The most recent update on Google Meet enhancements introduces a redesigned user interface, categorising effects into three tabs: ‘Backgrounds’, ‘Filters’, and ‘Appearance’.
1. Backgrounds
Google Meet’s Backgrounds now encompass high-resolution photographs, immersive options with dynamic elements (For example falling snow), and even 360-degree choices. Alongside the blurring feature, users can upload their backgrounds or generate one using Duet AI.
2. Filters
The ‘Filters’ section in Google Meet now brings in more personalisation by enabling new filters, where users can turn into an animal, or apply hats and other accessories.
3. Appearance
For the appearance tab, it provides various colour-changing choices such as ‘Light leak’, ‘Grayscale’, and others, which are applied to the video. In short, this appearance tab lets users adjust lighting, framing, and video quality.
Mix and Match Your Effects
Google added that Google Meet can mix and match background and filter effects, allowing users to experiment and discover the ideal combination that suits their style. Users can easily manage their selected effects through a new layer icon on the self-view tile, providing the flexibility to remove or reset effects with ease. This feature is available on both the mobile and web versions of Google Meet.
