As announced in Anime Expo 2024, Crunchyroll announced that Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, the popular Webtoon by Sing Shong, is the latest Webtoon anime adaptation after confirming the project is already in development.
In the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint teaser trailer, the panel confirmed the collaboration between Crunchyroll and Aniplex, the company successful for their famous adaptation of Kaguya Sama, Demon Slayer movies and more.
Furthermore, Anime Expo 2024 confirmed the continuation of Solo Leveling, with season two continuing the trend of mass anime adaptations of manhwa and Webtoon titles.

Background About Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Readers in the Webtoon circle are expectantly excited about the anime adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, as it is one of the standout series in its intricate plot, deep character development, and a unique blend of fantasy, action, and meta-narrative elements.

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows the story of Kim Dokja, an ordinary office worker who is the sole reader of an obscure web novel called “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World.” On one sudden day, the novel’s events start to unfold in reality, and Kim Dokja’s extensive knowledge of the story becomes his crucial asset for survival. Armed with his insights, he sets out to navigate the apocalyptic world, encountering various characters and challenges throughout his journey.
While the plot may seem similar to the typical Anime troupe of weak protagonists to strong with cheats, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint delves deeper into the backgrounds and motivations of Kim Dokja, who evolves from a passive reader into a proactive protagonist. Besides the protagonist, many characters in the story have complex moral compasses, and the line between good and evil is often blurred, keeping readers engaged with the conflict as the lore and rules of the universe are gradually revealed.
Everything We Know About Solo Leveling Season 2
Besides Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, Webtoon fans can also rejoice in the confirmation of Solo Leveling season 2, titled: “Arise from the Shadow”. Following season one’s ending of Sung Jinwoo changing his job title from an Assassin to a Necromancer and gaining the Shadow Extraction skill, season two will follow Jinwoo’s journey as the Shadow Monarch as he obtained allies through his one magical command: “Arise”, and faced his most difficult challenge yet at Jeju Island.
To watchers, the production studio heavily teased the beginning moments of the “Jeju Island” arc throughout the first season and for good reason, as it is one of the most significant and memorable arcs throughout the series. Without giving away any spoilers, the Jeju Island arc introduces powerful enemies, a colony of S-rank evolving ants, and to address the situation, a coalition of top hunters from various countries exterminate the threat.
The battle between the top hunters and the ant colony is high-stakes, as the struggle is intense, with many emotional moments occurring throughout the arc. The arc will also showcase more of Sung Jinwoo’s character development, which makes it a constant fan-favourite among Webtoon readers.
Lastly, Solo Leveling Season 2 will be released towards the end of 2024, the last quarter of the year, and it will feature 13 episodes, forming the latter half of the promised 25 episodes before Season 1 aired.

Anime Adaptations of Webtoons Have Been Hit or Miss
With the success of Solo Leveling, it is no surprise to see Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint also receiving an anime adaptation. However, Solo Leveling is a rare success of Webtoon anime adaptations, as who can forget the disappointing anime adaptation of The God of High School and Noblesse?

For context, cramming multiple manga/webtoon chapters into one anime episode is common. However, when you cramp 120 chapters into 13 episodes, it is where anime watchers will struggle to understand the deeper plot and may miss scenes explaining certain actions.
Despite the shortcomings of some Webtoons anime adaptations, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is in safe hands, as Aniplex will definitely bring high-quality anime to audiences worldwide.
