Is Palworld on Game Pass? Can you play the long-awaited open-world survival game on Xbox’s subscription service?
Pocketpair’s highly anticipated Pokemon-like RPG finally arrived three years after its announcement. Fans of the studio’s previous game, Craftopia, have definitely endured a long period of waiting. But to the joy of both Pokemon and the studio’s fans, Palworld is now playable on Xbox and Windows. It arrived along with a series of exciting new games coming to Game Pass.
What’s really interesting about Palworld is its Pokemon-like creatures, though. Palworld not only gives its lovely creatures massive firepower but also executes the core tenets of the survival gameplay formula. But how do you dive into its vibrant world? Is Palworld on Game Pass?
Without further ado, let’s shed light on some of the burning questions about Palworld.
Is Palworld on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Palworld is now available on Game Pass. Those with a Game Pass subscription can now dive into the Palworld’s exciting realm of taming and gunning lovely creatures. It arrived as a Day One launch and it is exclusively available on Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
Naturally, Palworld is also available on PC Game Pass. So, those with an active subscription to PC Game Pass can now start their adventure with minigun-holding cute animals. Knowing the things to do first in Palworld should help getting started as well.
How Much Does Palworld Cost?
Despite spending years in development, Palworld is still in early access. As we all know, this means that the development process actually continues until the game reaches its full version.
Although it has no shortage of technical issues, the early access phase can be beneficial both for players and developers. For players, games in early access tend to cost less than the full version of the title. That’s why Palworld costs $29.99.
The price tag is unlikely to change anytime soon since the developer hasn’t revealed a roadmap or a release window for the full version. Considering the sheer scale of the game, Palworld is far from getting a full release anytime soon.
Is Palworld on Xbox Game Pass Core?
Xbox Game Pass Core is a subscription plan that offers an alternative to the basic Xbox Game Pass. With a Core subscription, users can benefit from a collection of at least 20 games, as well as a multiplayer experience.
Although it is more cost-effective, Xbox Game Pass Core does not offer access to Day One releases. That’s why Palworld is not available on Xbox Game Pass Core at the moment.
Palworld on Game Pass and Steam Version Differences
There is a series of version differences between Palworld on Game Pass and the Steam version. The most obvious and impactful difference between these versions is the lack of the DLSS feature in the Game Pass version.
Those who dive into Pocketpair’s colourful realm can’t enable this graphical feature to boost performance, unfortunately.
Alongside the DLSS option being greyed out, Palworld on Game Pass also doesn’t come with dedicated server support. The Steam version supports up to 32-player servers, whereas Palworld’s Xbox Game Pass version only comes with a 4-player co-op feature.
Will Palworld Leave Xbox Game Pass?
Those who are enjoying Palworld on Game Pass and wish to continue their monster-hunting journey shouldn’t be worried. That’s because Palworld is likely to remain available on the service at least for a year. Based on previous timed-exclusive titles in the library, games on Xbox Game Pass usually depart from the service once they complete their 1-year exclusivity deal.
The developer’s previous game, Craftopia, was also available on Xbox Game Pass. Xbox added the game a year after its launch and removed it in 2022 after a full year of availability.
Final Thoughts
Those who enjoy some of the best survival games will also find lots to love in Palworld on Game Pass. It draws all the best inspirations from the genre’s most prominent examples, like Rust and ARK: Survival Evolved. But of course, its massive Paldeck and wide arsenal of weaponry are its most alluring aspects.
It’s also worth mentioning that Palworld on Game Pass will be here for the long haul. Similar to many other games in the library, it shouldn’t leave the subscription service anytime soon.
