The Resident Evil 4 Remake is full of memorable characters. We introduce the five best ones and compare them to their original counterparts.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake is a wonderful, modern and gorier version of the original. Amazing graphics and fresh gameplay elements have won over old and new fans alike. Unlike other horror games with rather flat, two-dimensional characters, the Resident Evil franchise always stood out because of its interesting characters.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake is no exception: Familiar faces return with some cosmetic changes, some new quirks, and, in some cases, a more likeable attitude. One change especially female gamers notice quickly is that the whole game has fewer sexist moments than the horror game’s original version. This article takes a look at some of these changes.

5. Luis Serra

Serra is a rugged, interesting character with plenty of charm to spare. Luis Serra’s and Leon’s path cross because they were both prisoners in the same place. While Serra’s appearance is only a little different to the original, the big difference in his character is that he’s less sexist and not quite as funny as in the original. He also has a bigger role in the remake.
4. Ada Wong

Ada Wong has been loved by fans since she first appeared in the series. Her attractive looks and mysterious character make her almost irresistible. However, many fans would have loved to see her get some more in-depth character development in the remake. There’s always been the feeling that there’s more to Ada than just being the typical “Dragon Lady” femme fatale. The difference people immediately noticed was the more sensible wardrobe!
3. Ingrid Hunnigan

Ingrid doesn’t take part in the actual action but plays an important role as a field operation support agent. Leon also takes a liking to her but keeps his flirting limited in the remake. She also does not seem to be the type to fall for his flirting that easily.
Leon would be quite lost without her help. She’s one of the characters that haven’t changed much from the original.

2. Ashley Graham

Ashley is the US president’s missing daughter who looks a little different in the remake. In the past, fans made quite a few jokes about Ashley’s ears. In the remake, gamers will immediately notice that this defining feature has disappeared behind Ashley’s trendy hairstyle. Her outfit is also a little different, but apart from that, little has changed. She’s still the damsel in distress.
There’s a gameplay change for the remake’s version of Ashley: She has no health bar. Instead of dying, she is downed and can be revived.
1. Leon Scott Kennedy

In the fourth instalment of the Resident Evil series, Leon works directly under the US president as an agent. His goal: To find the president’s daughter. Leon’s looks remain unchanged, apart from some minor changes in the colour palette of his outfit. Character-wise, Leon is also not very different. There is one notable change though: He flirts less which fits in with the remake being a little female-friendlier than the original.
While Leon’s character is pretty much the same, the remake’s version is more mobile: He can jump properly, shoot while on the move, and crouch to take cover. He does need this extra agility as the enemies in the remake are a tad more intelligent than in the original.
