Skills In Last Epoch
Passive Skill Tree
Now, let’s go over the passive skill tree. Last Epoch uses a unique passive grid system. You invest skill points in the grid to unlock abilities for your character. If we take five points in the Acolyte skill tree, this will unlock Hungering Souls.
Then, if you continue, 10 points for summoning Bone Golem, and so on. It’s also very easy to respect these points for the cost of gold, so don’t be afraid to experiment here.
Skills Categorised Into Different Class
Each class in Last Epoch has access to unique sets of active skills, and each of these skills has its unique skill tree that can be modified in different ways. For example, with Grave Walker, you can add a maximum number of skeletons. Immortal skill gives you a chance to resummon skeletons if they die.
You can also go for Skeleton Rogues to increase the attack, cast speed, and move speed of your skeletons. There are plenty of combinations and setups to play around with here to create your preferred playstyle for your build. This can also be changed or respected whenever you want, depending on what level you are on.
Depending on what level you are on, you will get a different amount of points back when you respect a skill, and you can see this under the skill name.
Idols in Last Epoch Grant Niche Effects to Your Character
What Is Idols in Last Epoch
Idols function similarly to Diablo 2‘s charm system, offering unique effects to enhance your character’s capabilities. These items occupy specific slots within your character’s inventory and must be equipped to activate their effects. Idols vary in size, each offering different benefits.
Smaller idols typically provide basic stats such as damage and resistance, while class-specific idols offer affixes tailored to their respective classes. Choose wisely when selecting which idols to equip to best suit your character’s build and play style.
Idol Slots
When progressing through the campaign in Last Epoch, it’s crucial to unlock Idol slots along with additional passive points. These slots and points aren’t all obtained solely through the main storyline, making it easy to overlook some. To optimise your character’s potential as you venture into the end game, ensuring all Idol slots are unlocked is essential.
To check if you’ve unlocked all passive points and idol slots, simply open your map and examine the bottom-left corner. If any are missing, refer to the quest tracker on the right to identify rewards related to idols or passive points.
Stash and Item Organisation in the Last Epoch Is Essential
In Last Epoch, there is a lot of loot that you can pick up and save for different reasons. You can store your items in the stash, which you can share between all of your characters unless you’re playing the character-found challenge, which is a solo self-found mode. It’s recommended to start organising your stash from the beginning to save time later on.
Crafting Mastery: Gear and Legendary Item Crafting in Last Epoch
Crafting in the game is done through the Crafting Window (Forge), accessible by default with the F key. This window allows you to add Shards or choose Runes to enhance your items. Simply place the item in the top slot, then you can either tack on a Shard by selecting an affix slot and picking an available affix, or opt for a Rune by clicking the Rune icon.
Additionally, if applicable, you can throw in a Glyph in the Support Item slot. Once your item runs out of Forging Potential, you can’t tinker with it anymore in the Forging Panel.
Gear Rarity
As for gear, it can have different rarities depending on how many affixes they have on them. Gear Rarity:
- Common: No affixes
- Magic: Up to two affixes
- Rare: Up to four affixes
- Unique: One or more unique modifiers
- Set Pieces: Part of a set giving bonuses based on equipped pieces
- Exalted: Rare items with one or more fixes of tier six or seven
Legendary Items
In Last Epoch, you can make legendary items by merging a unique item with an exalted one. This lets you move affixes from the exalted item to the unique one, making your character stronger.
To craft a legendary item, you’ll need a unique item with at least one legendary potential and an exalted item of the same kind. Then, you have to finish the Temporal Sanctum dungeon. The higher the tier of the dungeon you complete, the better the level of the unique item you can use to transfer stats from the exalted item.
Target Farming in Last Epoch: Endgame Content Overview
In Last Epoch, you can target farm-specific uniques and set pieces from various content. Bosses at the end of timelines or dungeons guarantee certain drops. To check these drops, visit Last Epoch tools > Resources > select the desired source (e.g., Last Ruin). Under Boss Items, you can see what items the boss drops and their rarity.
You can also semi-target farm items through monoliths. Different nodes or echoes offer rewards: Green nodes give random set pieces, orange nodes provide unique items, and dual-colour nodes offer sets or unique items of a specific type. Each timeline has its item type to farm.
- Monolith of Faith: Travel through timelines, face challenges, and earn rewards. Encounter Shade of Orobyss to increase the difficulty and item rarity.
- Dungeons: Explore Lightless Arbor, Soulfire Bastion, and Temporal Sanctum. Each dungeon has four difficulty levels and offers unique rewards. Access requires corresponding keys.
- Arena: Engage in wave-based combat against hordes of enemies. As waves progress, so does difficulty. Every ten waves, the arena transitions to a new map. Meet Arena Champions at Wave 40 for unique drops.

Unique Ailments Mechanics in Last Epoch
In Last Epoch, different ailments work a bit differently than in other RPGs. For damage ailments, first of all, here you can be a cold build dealing ignites or a fire build that deals bleeding damage.
The reason for this is in Last Epoch, you get a chance to ignite, for example, and this will apply to everything. The higher the chance you have, the more stacks will be applied per hit. So, for example, if you have a 500% chance to ignite, you will deal five stacks per hit.
Also, each element has a base damage that will be scaled its damage from instead of like a lot of other RPGs where an element will be scaled from the initial hit. So, bigger hits mean more ignite damage, for example, and that is not the case for Last Epoch. Attack or cast speed is going to be the way to go here as you want to apply as many stacks as you can. Most damage elements in Last Epoch have an unlimited stack limit.
This is everything you should know so far for a perfect start in Last Epoch. As you progress further in the game, there are other aspects you will need to learn. For additional Last Epoch guides, you can visit player.me.
