An upcoming release for fans of the horror genre is Alien: Romulus, a sci-fi horror film directed by Fede Alvarez. He’s known for his surreal artistic visions, so his popular works are Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe. Check out both films when you have the chance. We anticipate the release of Alien: Romulus, and since the Player.com crew are gamers at heart, we also thirst for alien games. Our urge to crush some terrestrial skulls is at an all-time high, and we hope these five upcoming alien games will satisfy us.

5 Upcoming Alien Games
These are the five alien games that are being released in 2023 and beyond. Some of them have already been postponed, so no release date is set in stone. It’s almost like waiting for the PS6, which you can read more about here. Also, not all of these upcoming alien games fit the horror genre, since some protagonists tend to be overpowered by developers. Ultimately, you can enjoy a breakdown of these games below.

#1: Pragmata | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Pragmata is a science fiction game that seems to feature lots of advanced technology, the likes of which we haven’t seen in video games for some time. Besides the teaser that was released in June 2023, which shows gameplay that’s similar to Devil May Cry’s, we don’t have any concrete information about the in-game mechanics. Hopefully, they’ll be as ingenious as in games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Elden Ring.
However, we spotted the moon, space stations, our planet Earth, and a few other details in the teaser. Since this game is being developed by Capcom, we can only hope that the experience will be as chilling as that of Resident Evil, another Capcom game. That said, Pragmata is one of the upcoming alien games that has been postponed indefinitely.
We don’t mind the delays because Capcom’s stories and lore are expertly written most of the time. So, we’re curious about the horrors we’ll face this time around. Allegedly, the new enemies will be able to alter reality, and yes, Earth will be invaded.
#2: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
The upcoming Suicide Squad game is being developed by Rocksteady Studios, the creative minds behind Batman: Arkham Knight and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Everything from the combat system to the in-game mechanics will be as sleek as the ones in Devil May Cry. It’s a known fact that DC Universe games are better than their movie counterparts, so we anticipate playing as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark.

We expect a four-way combat system since players will be controlling four characters in this upcoming alien game. That said, you might be wondering why this title is on a list of alien games. It’s because you fight off an alien invasion, where tanks, aircraft, and many soldiers and monsters are the norm.
Instead of being the villains, the Suicide Squad turns out to be the good guys because they’re being controlled by Amanda Waller. DC heroes have also vowed to destroy Metropolis, so they’re happy about the invasion. Ultimately, it’s up to Amanda’s team to save the day. This upcoming alien game is launching on February 2, 2024, but that’s if the studio doesn’t postpone it again.
#3: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an action-adventure title that plays out in the Avatar universe. The second movie has already been released, so there’s plenty of material for this upcoming alien game to use. All events of the game occur on the moon of Pandora, in the XXII century.
You were abducted as a child Na’vi by the RDA, a militaristic corporation, and then subjected to intense training regimes to serve the organisation. You’ve broken out of their factory, and you’re encouraged to explore your heritage. Thankfully, the graphics are phenomenal, even from the teasers we’ve witnessed so far. Especially as the game’s visuals are being developed from scratch using the Snowdrop engine, the same game engine in Tom Clancy’s The Division series.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be launched on December 7, 2023, and we can only hope it won’t be postponed. Gameplay-wise, you’ll be able to fight like a Na’vi, which means you can ride ikrans and direhorses. Also, you’ll be able to stalk your prey and eliminate opponents from the shadows using a bow and arrow. However, players who prefer an all-out assault can opt for assault rifles, salvaged from the corpses of marines and other human soldiers.
#4: Outcast 2 | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Outcast 2 is being developed by Appeal Studios and published by THQ Nordic. You’ll explore the alien world of Adelpha, where the local Talans are struggling for survival. Naturally, this is a third-person adventure that outfits players with different guns and abilities to make combat as sleek as possible. The open sandbox of Adelpha is also well-detailed down to the monsters and NPCs.
Additionally, the protagonist is Cutter Slade, an ex-navy SEAL who’s experienced in combating aliens and fighting off invasions. Other reasons why Slade will be an awesome character are:
- A jet pack lets you traverse Adelpha. Perform air dashes and glide through the air with a carefree attitude.
- Create super weapons out of modules that you discover.
- You can approach quests at your own pace because the campaign isn’t linear.
- Familiarise yourself with the Talans and pick up ancient Talan powers to destroy enemies.
- Experience great visuals and enjoy a fitting soundtrack.
#5: Level Zero | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Level Zero is an upcoming alien game from DogHowl Games that’ll be published by tinyBuild. It’s an isometric PvP game where a team of scientists must fix electrical systems to escape a horde of monsters. If you play as a scientist, light is your tool for collecting loot and slowing down monsters. However, choosing a monster will open up a whole new collection of telepathic abilities to hunt down scientists. That said, other features to enjoy such as:

- Work as a Team: Complete objectives using teamwork or die individually. In fact, your success isn’t aiming or shooting in the dark. It’s your ability to work well together with your teammates that’ll determine your success rate. Support your teammates with prompt call-outs and provide aid from a distance.
- Unlock More Perks: You earn XP and in-game currency the more you progress in the campaign. There are many builds and perks to purchase but you’ll lose them all if your team is eliminated. You’ll also be able to customise your character’s skins and cosmetics.
- Manage Your Consumables: You only have limited resources and consumables, so you must learn to manage them properly. Running out of resources at the wrong time will lead to early deaths. You can use a flare to light your way through darkness or simply as a last resort in the case of an ambush. Even the station’s storage area may hold valuable resources that you and your team can use.
- Death Isn’t the End: Once your character dies, you’ll be respawned as a drone to direct your friends to safety. Traverse dark corridors and evade monsters by watching out for their tracks using UV light. You can also carry items to your team as a drone, so death is only a beginning.
- Use Traps to Your Advantage: Scientists have a great variety of traps to test out, including a motion-activated floodlight. Without these traps, lone scientists are unsafe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Upcoming Alien Game Should Fans Look Out For?
There’s no confirmed news about any Alien game in development for now. After Alien: Romulus’ release, a studio might decide to take up the development of another Alien title. For now, gamers can enjoy Aliens: Dark Descent, a real-time Alien single-player campaign. You’ll command a squad of toughened soldiers whose goal is to eliminate the Xenomorph wreaking havoc on Planet Lethe. You’ll be able to level up each of the four members you command according to their classes and perks. It’s an immersive title.
Are There Any Alien Games in Development Besides the Aliens franchise?
There are quite a few alien upcoming games, such as Deep Rock Galactic, Kerbal Space Program 2, Level Zero, Greyhill Incident, Outcast 2, and Starship Troopers: Extermination. The game we’re really interested in playing is Pragmata, though Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is our second most anticipated upcoming alien game.
Is Starfield a Proper Alien Game?
Oh, yes, Starfield is a good alien game from Bethesda Softworks. We can’t say it’s excellent, but it’s far from bad. You either love it or hate it but in our case, we love the lore since we can feel Skyrim’s game mechanics in the background. You’ll explore space, meet aliens and, in some cases, monsters, and complete quests. It’s a great experience since there are thousands of planets available to explore. Hopefully, Starfield 2 will be even better.
