Konami has been making games for decades now, being the creative minds behind Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, Bail or Jail, eFootball, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, Silent Hill: Books of Memories, Metal Gear: Survive, and the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. So, following the studio’s announcement that it’s returning to the gaming industry with several AAA titles in tow, gamers worldwide are excited.
To be specific, Player.me is excitedly awaiting the studio’s new Silent Hill games. Silent Hill is known for its psychological horrors and the mind-bending monsters that crawl the streets, stairs, basements, and the majority of the sandbox. The closest game to these titles in terms of monsters and art design is The Evil Within.
Staggering Number of Silent Hill Games Are in Development
There are currently five Silent Hill games being developed by Konami, which are:
- Silent Hill f.
- Silent Hill: Ascension.
- Silent Hill 2 Remake.
- Silent Hill: Townfall.
- Silent Hill The Short Message.
Four of the five games have been confirmed via Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission event. The last game on the list has been on the rumour mill for months now. Also, it has leaked multiple times, but the game might just be abandoned since it wasn’t included in the announcement.

Silent Hill f | Supported Platforms: Expected to be a Short-Time PS5 Exclusive
Silent Hill f is probably Konami’s biggest Silent Hill game to date because of its budget, team size, and technical advancements. All of these details were confirmed by the trailer, which also aired in 2022 during Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission event. The visuals are top-notch and the soundtrack is expected to be immersive.
The game’s story was created by Ryūkishi07, who is famous for his novels with themes like psychological suffering, murder mystery, and supernatural horror. Since the writer is Japanese, the game will be set in Japan during the 1960s, and players can expect a terrifying beauty from the world. We sense some vibes reminiscent of The Last of Us Part 1 & 2 and that’s because of the fungi-based corrosion that seems to affect living matter only.

Silent Hill: Ascension | Supported Platforms: Android, iOS, and PC
Silent Hill: Ascension is an interactive video streaming series where players control all of the characters’ fates. We added it to this list because it’s an ongoing series. To that end, the game is being developed by four studios, which are:
- Bad Robot Games.
- Behaviour Interactive.
- DJ2 Entertainment.
- Genvid Technologies.
The game focuses on the psychological manifestation of past traumas in different victims around the world. It’s always a family-based experience, where a father and his children may have lost their wife and mother, respectively. It can also be vice versa because fans can demand more videos.
Anyone can play the videos now, but they first aired on October 31, 2023. The game might be innovative, but it’s notorious for its microtransactions and battle passes. These fees drastically affect the fates of the characters that Konami claimed would be yours to control. Sadly, it’s a no-money, no-freedom policy. To access the game, head to the official Silent Hill: Ascension website or just download the Sony PlayStation Core app.
Silent Hill 2 Remake | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Silent Hill 2 Remake is expected to be available on the PlayStation for 12 months before it’s released for other platforms. Xbox, PC, and maybe even the Nintendo Switch will get the Silent Hill 2 Remake. That said, the remake is being developed by Konami alongside Bloober Team, who are known for their works such as The Medium, Observer Bloober Team’s Blair Witch, Double Bloob, Layers of Fear 2, and Darq.
If you’re a fan of horror games like Resident Evil 4, The Last of Us, and similar titles, you’ll love Silent Hill 2 Remake. Especially when the monsters are brought to life in 4K at 60 frames per second. Killing the abominations of Silent Hill 2 will be more satisfying in the next-gen remake. Picture better ambient occlusion, lighting effects, weapon animations, texture quality, and many other physics and chemistry.
Ask anybody; it’s one of the better horror games brought to players. However, that’s not only because of its monsters and jump scares, so we can expect other features like:
- A narrative-driven story like the one in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
- PS5 trophies will be present.
- Immersive soundtracks and music.
- Fine-tuned haptic feedback is courtesy of the PS5’s DualSense.
Silent Hill: Townfall | Supported Platforms: Expected to be a Short-Time PS5 Exclusive
Silent Hill: Townfall will likely start as a PS5 exclusive that’s supposedly going to be a Silent Hill spin-off. Kind of like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy being a standalone expansion that builds upon the Uncharted game series. The game is being developed by No Code, Annapurna Interactive, and Konami Digital Entertainment.
We got a trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall in 2022 and while it was tense, nothing was shown. There are no release or preview dates, nor did we get a peek at the supported platforms. However, because Silent Hill games are first released for PlayStation consoles, we suspect the PS5 will get the same treatment.
So, details are entirely shrouded in mystery for now, and yes, even the lore is unknown. However, like classic Silent Hill games, we can expect many monstrosities, frightening atmospheres, and characters with depressive mindsets. Hopefully, players’ choices will matter in this game.
Silent Hill The Short Message | Supported Platforms: PS5
Silent Hill The Short Message is the most elusive game on our list because it hasn’t been announced yet. Unlike the other games on the list, only Reddit leaks and rumours are circulating right now. So far, we know the contents of the game are beyond mature, with the Australian Classification Board giving it an MA15+ rating. It constantly references self-harm, violence, and suicide, so it might be a sensitive game for some.
These themes are probably why Konami didn’t announce the game during their trailer event. According to the Australian Classification Board, players will explore a building in modern Germany that’s called The Villa. You’ll control Anita in first-person view, and you’ll investigate the mysterious disappearance of her missing friend.
It’s also expected to be a PlayStation exclusive or at least timed like the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Many rumours are popping up about the game but none of them leak as many details as the Australian Classification Board.
Our Conclusion: Silent Hill f Is the Clear Winner
Yes, the most anticipated Silent Hill game is Silent Hill f because of its breathtaking gameplay and atmosphere. Also, unlike games like The Last of Us and its elusive safe codes and its fungi-based virus, the affliction in the upcoming game is supposedly supernatural. That said, the one common theme in all of the Silent Hill games we mentioned is psychological torment. The torment manifests as reality-bending monstrosities and horrors.
Nevertheless, we can’t give a verdict on any of the games until they’re released in the coming years. We’ll update this article or publish an update whenever there’s more news about Konami’s Silent Hill games. For now, we can only wait and hope that one of these titles will be released in 2024.
