First-person games are incredibly fun due to their unique perspective. Heck, some gamers argue that shooter titles should only be played from a first-person perspective. To that end, Player.com has compiled some of the best first-person war games for PC players to go through. These games are chock-full of weapons, including grenades and assault rifles. So, the experience is adrenaline-filled from start to finish.

5 New First-Person Games for PC Gamers
Some of the best first-person war games available are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Helldivers 2. These games’ campaigns are short, but their multiplayer modes boast high replayability. Games like Apex Legends are also intense shooters, but we’re not fighting a war. So, below are the most fun first-person in the war genre.

#1: Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 was a smashing hit released by Arrowhead Game Studios on February 8, 2024. It’s an intense shooter where players can seamlessly switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. Lore-wise, you’re involved in a galactic war against three factions: The Illuminates, the Bots, and the Bugs. The three factions are invasive species that replicate like rats, so killing one and 10 more will replace it. This is why Helldivers 2 should be played with three other friends, though tough players can solo missions.
By traversing the huge sandbox, players will perceive the world from a third-person perspective. It’s a better integration than Cyberpunk 2077’s first-person mode, which can only be switched to third-person when driving. Moving forward, Helldivers are privy to an impressive collection of gear and weapons. Your helmets, capes, and armor all play a role in combat. For one, Light armors let you move quickly, while Heavy armors let you take a few more hits. Yes, the perks from your gear sometimes spread to your teammates.
#2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a remake of the same name with better graphics, voiceovers, and animations in the first-person shooter gaming genre. You’ll wield the best guns in a race against time, as Vladimir Makarov is hellbent on starting the Third World War. He’s a war criminal, so only Captain Price and Task Force 141 can handle him. Besides the exhilarating single-player experience, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 also offers a fun multiplayer mode with many maps to explore.
Additionally, Call of Duty Zombies is included in the package and yes, you will play on the biggest zombie map in Call of Duty history. Other features of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that we love are:
- The game is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows PC.
- Gamers can now vote on a map in a match-made lobby.
- Player health has been increased for extended TTKs (Time-to-kill).
- Open Combat Missions let you tackle missions however you want. Go in guns blazing or use stealth and silent assassinations to your advantage.
- A 32v32 Ground War mode is also available and it does what it says.
#3: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is an upcoming action game that lets you serve the order as a Space Marine. You wield big guns and a huge sawblade that can dissect the toughest Tyranids in half. Yes, you heard that right! You’ll be fighting the invasive species once more, which is an experience akin to fighting a hydra whose heads will just regrow after being cut down.
Thankfully, you can experience the harsh realities of the Space Marines on your PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. So, expect fast loading times, beautiful visuals, and better multiplayer that lets you kill space bugs with your friends. Other features that we’re looking forward to testing are:
- A Co-op Mode: The game supports three players but we’re more interested in the AI. It will revive players and lay down cover fire for gamers to charge enemies.
- Big Guns Await: Picture a gun that shoots rocket-powered explosives and you essentially have the Bolster. We’ll allegedly get to try out other big guns throughout the campaign.
- Chaos Followers: Chaos followers in Warhammer 40K are unpredictable. We wonder what they have in store for us in the upcoming sequel.
#4: Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal plays out from the perspective of Doomguy, a super soldier who is feared by demons across all nine circles of hell. You experiment with shotguns, a saw blade, and a variety of other impressive weapons. For one, you can only heal by performing Glory kills, which are brutal and fast enough to instil fear in your enemies. It’s a war against the demons who dare invade Earth, so you’re encouraged to kill enemies in a variety of ways to gain certain perks.
The Slayer (You) also has a shoulder-mounted flame belcher for incinerating demons and recovering part of your armor. Doomguy is faster, stronger, and more versatile than ever, and it’s up to players to push him to his limits. Other highlights of Doom Eternal that you should know about are:
- Guns and mods have been upgraded to deal even more damage.
- The online multiplayer supports up to three players in a squad.
- A new 2 versus 1 mode is available where the slayer faces off against two high-ranking demons.
#5: Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite was launched in 2021 to critical acclaim on the Xbox Series X and Windows PC. It features a huge sandbox with missions and objectives that you can approach stealthily or otherwise. Besides the local multiplayer, you can also play with your friends online. Other qualities of Halo Infinite that have kept us glued to the game are:
- The survival mode is Firefight: King of the Hill.
- The multiplayer mode offers over 70 maps with many customisation options.
- The Xbox Series X is a capable console and Halo Infinite’s visuals push it to its limits.
- Gunplay is excellent, with tight controls in close-quarter combat and otherwise.
- The game is free, at least for Steam users and Xbox Series X owners. Other tootles that are free to play are Destiny 2, Apex Legends, and Team Fortress 2.
Our Final Say: First-Person Games Should Be Paired with a Good TV
First-person games sell like hotcakes if the campaign or multiplayer experience is awesome. However, the major factor we considered was the nature of the lore. Are we fighting vampires in alleyways or bringing the pain to aliens at their outposts? We prefer the bolder approach between the two, so boys, that’s why war is the theme today! Deliver a taste of freedom to the denizens of Super Earth now.
