Atomic Heart has been an absolute blast to play ever since it was released. It doesn’t score many points for replayability, unlike Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda games. But the level and weapon designs were memorable. So, this list is dedicated to the best weapons we use in Atomic Heart. And sure, some of them go boom-boom.

The 6 Best Powers in Atomic Heart
Want to zap or blast enemies away? Well, these should be your go-to weapons for dominating the battlefield.

How We Ranked These Powers
We ranked these powers based on their accessibility and ease of use. Also, the more general-purpose the power is, the higher it’s ranked on our list. Finally, we considered the level of grinding it would take to fully upgrade these powers.

#1: Shok
Thankfully, Shok is the first power that you obtain in Atomic Heart and it’s quite a shocking experience. At least for your foes, because Shok turns you into the god of thunder. Part of Shok’s allure is its very short cooldown period and simplicity, so you can use it consecutively once it’s fully upgraded.
But the biggest reason we love this ability is that it seeks targets by itself. So, there’s no need to aim — just let it rip, literally! Shok, when upgraded with a particular perk, can rip enemies apart. If you do decide to fully invest in ‘Shoking’ your opponents, purchase upgrades that let you chain the electric bolt between enemies. The best perks of this power are:
- Extended Topology: The Extended Topology is a perk that chains the electric bolt to other targets.
- Full Contact: Full Contact makes sure that secondary targets hit by the electric bolt are hit at full power.
- Amplified Modulator: The Amplified Modulator increases the range of the electric bolt.
#2: Frostbite
Frostbite freezes enemies in place, so it’s the best power for crowd control. Picture being swarmed by enemies, but then you can put one or two of your opponents out of commission by freezing them in place. While frozen, enemies will take less damage, but at least, you’ll get some breathing space to crush the other enemies. But immediately after your enemies are unfrozen, they’ll take more damage.
Moving forward, Frostbite also affects all enemies regardless of their size, including pawns and bosses. If you acquire the Absolute Zero Perk, frozen enemies will take damage over time. Another perk like Drastic Measures allows players to use their health reserves to freeze enemies instead of Cryopolymer.
#3: Mass Telekinesis
Mass Telekinesis is a flashy ability in Atomic Heart that allows players to levitate enemies in the air. At the same time, you can pepper them with bullets until they break apart. Mass Telekinesis is so powerful that you can lift even the heaviest bosses with it. To do that, just grab the Increased Power perk to lift heavier enemies and the Force Fall Acceleration to smash them back into the ground.
Perhaps the biggest reason why this ability is so legendary is because of one of its more obscure perks, the Energy Vampire. It drains energy from the enemies caught in your gravity field, thereby providing damage and health boosts. But the grind for Energy Vampire is a big turn-off since it requires a whopping 600 Neuropolymers to be purchased. Other memorable perks of Mass Telekinesis are:
- Neuro-Polymer Accelerator: The Neuro-Polymer Accelerator reduces the cooldown period of Mass Telekinesis.
- Barotrauma: This increases the damage per second dealt to enemies that are frozen in the air.
#4: Polymeric Jet
Polymeric Jet is an all-purpose combat liquid for causing pure mayhem on the battlefield. Once you’ve sprayed enemies with this liquid, you can light them on fire, electrocute them, or even freeze them in place. This makes Polymeric Jet one of the most versatile powers in Atomic Heart. You can pair it with other powers and weapons except for Energy weapons like the Electro or the Dominator.
Just remember that you’re not impervious to being frozen, lit up, or shocked as well. So, avoid enemies that have been sprayed with the Polymeric Jet. Upgraded with the High Viscosity perk, you can slow down enemies with it. Allowing you to deal huge amounts of damage from a safe distance. Other perks of Polymeric Jet that we enjoyed using are:
- Increased Chemical Reactivity Distance: This perk increases the range of the Polymeric Jet. So that when it’s applied to one target, it quickly spreads to other nearby enemies.
- Increased Polymer Generation: This perk increases the volume of Polymeric Jet you can spray. So, you’ll be able to spray for longer, thus, giving your opponents equal treatment of combat liquid.
- Mixture Efficacy: The Mixture Efficacy increases the potency of the Polymeric Jet. So, resulting chemical reactions like electrification and freezing are deadlier than ever.
#5: Character Upgrades
With the power of character upgrades, players are next to unkillable because they can survive lethal attacks with just 1 HP. The perks of this power are quite useful, increasing the protagonist’s chances of survival. Here’s a brief overview of the best upgrades for this power.
- Extra Capacity Cluster Munitions: This perk increases your ammo capacity so you can carry more bullets.
- Neuro-Compression Tactical Backpack: This increases your backpack’s maximum capacity, so you can carry more items at any time.
- Wild Boar: The Wild Boar is a perk that increases the player’s maximum health.
- Morning Exercise: The Morning Exercise increases your character’s running speed. So, it’s easier to outrun and evade enemies.
- Parkour: The Parkour helps players jump from high platforms without taking any fall damage.
- Born Marksman: Your ability to snipe enemies from afar becomes easier with increased accuracy.
- Athlete: It also increases your maximum health.
If you combine perks like Wild Boar, Athlete, and Muscle Head, your health will be maxed out. In addition, other perks increase the player’s durability against shock, ice, and fire.
#6: Polymeric Shield
The Polymeric Shield is one of the few defensive abilities in the game. However, due to Atomic Heart’s fast-paced combat, they dialled down its potency to encourage players to be more aggressive when playing. The shield isn’t very powerful because it only lasts for a few seconds. But during certain boss encounters, this ability is a lifesaver.
Part of the reason why Player.me ranked it so low is that you can’t do anything while the shield is up. You can’t use consumables to eat, nor can you equip, aim, or throw a grenade. That said, the Polymeric Shield shines once it’s fully upgraded. With perks like the Neuro-Polymer Reflector, you can send all ranged attacks back to the enemies. Also, the Sponge Effect perk recharges your energy metre by converting blocked projectiles into energy. The other perk that’s worth investing in is:
- Overload and Destabilise: Between all these perks, our favourite is Overload and Destablise because it’s quite potent when used in the right scenario. If you’re ever swarmed by enemies, Overload and Destablise will cause your shield to explode, spraying enemies with combat liquid.
Our Final Say
We listed six powers in Atomic Heart, but here is a bonus called Energy Management. Technically, these skills are equal in capacity, but for general purposes, the first three powers are the best. But for players who have extra Neuropolymer to spend, investing in the last three powers is worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Most Powerful Weapon in Atomic Heart?
The Zvezdochka is probably the best Weapon in Atomic Heart because of the level of Chaos you can unleash with it. Besides the sleek name, this weapon easily cuts down enemies within seconds. It boasts one of the highest damage outputs in the game. Enough to cut down even armies in mere seconds once you’ve fully upgraded the weapon with the Saw Dance charge attack.
What Is the Best Skill in Atomic Heart?
The best skill in Atomic Heart is Shok. It’s the first skill you acquire in Atomic Heart, and it’s also the most effective because it actively damages enemies. Also, you don’t need to grind for resources too much before you upgrade Shok. Imagine reducing the cooldown so much that you can shock enemies at a moment’s notice.
Who Is the Hardest Enemy in Atomic Heart?
The toughest enemy in Atomic Heart is The Twins because they’re extremely nimble. How do you kill what you can’t catch? Sure enough, The Twins can easily dodge small-arms weapons, so you need to whip out the big guns with a wide area of effect. One of the sisters favours a laser weapon that behaves like a boomerang. The other sister is telekinetic, so she can levitate and hurl objects at players from a distance.
