Certain titles were released as a conclusion to a series, yet creators can be inspired in the future to develop a game sequel. So, Player.com compiled some games with great endings that will be extremely tough to beat by any future game sequel. In the meantime, you can also play the prequels to the five titles below. Witness gaming at its best!

7 Best Game Sequels We’re Looking Forward To
This list of game sequels we would love to play includes Uncharted 5 and Red Dead Redemption 3. Remember God of War (2018)? It was a reinvention of the action-adventure game that changed the camera from an isometric view to an off-shoulder perspective. We’ve got nothing against isometric games, but Kratos looks better in the third person. No one knew that God of War would be rebooted but here we are, crushing skulls in God of War Ragnarok.
#1: Uncharted 5
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was a spinoff that was based on the Uncharted game series, making Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Drake’s final game. Drake’s final treasure hunts were noble since he was just trying to save his brother’s life. However, it turns out that his brother is stumped, so he lies to gain Drake’s help.
Naturally, this doesn’t sit well with our protagonist, who now has a family, including a daughter. The game’s conclusion was great too, since neither brother died despite their dangerous escapades. So, making a game sequel for a title that’s already critically acclaimed is difficult. However, if any studio can pull that off, then it’s Naughty Dog, the phenomenal creators behind The Last of Us games.
#2: Red Dead Redemption 3
Red Dead Redemption 2’s events take place before the experiences in Red Dead Redemption 1. Essentially, you control different members of the same gang, who are John Marston and Arthur Morgan. Arthur is a faster gunslinger than John, but he succumbs to tuberculosis before Red Dead Redemption 2 is concluded.

Thankfully, Rockstar Games lets gamers control John after Arthur’s untimely demise. We witness his struggle to switch his line of work since he only wants to farm with his family. However, the sins of his past quickly catch up with him and he becomes the government’s lapdog. He eventually dies at the end of Red Dead Redemption 1, with his son, Jack, swearing to avenge his father’s death. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Jack as the main protagonist in the upcoming game sequel, Red Dead Redemption 3.
#3: GTA 6
Following many leaks, a trailer for GTA 6 was eventually teased by Rockstar Games and it was stupendous. Nevertheless, we hope that the game sequel won’t be plagued by bugs, especially as the creators are pushing the boundaries of visual fidelity again. For one, GTA 6’s sandbox may be twice as large as that of GTA V, so we can only hope the experience will be smooth.
Besides that, GTA 5 was a smashing hit for Rockstar Games, earning it over $1,000,000,000 in revenue. With such big shoes to fill, we’re looking forward to GTA 6’s release. Will the missions be longer and mindlessly fun or will the characters exhibit more realistic behaviours? We can’t stand the wait.
#4: Batman: Arkham Knight’s Game Sequel
Batman: Arkham Knight was a highly-rated action title with great combat and driving mechanics. The Batmobile is a tank that can soak up hits and respond in kind with bullets and rockets. Years after its release, other video games that take place in Gotham pale in comparison (We’re talking about you, Gotham Knights).
To date, Rocksteady Studios hasn’t released a game sequel, which is understandable because they’re busy working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. We expect that game to be massively detailed, down to the lighting and combat moves. However, we’re looking forward to the next instalment in the Batman game series.
Bruce is a capable fighter with great detective skills so beating goons and solving puzzles were always fun. We expect to find better puzzles and tougher enemies in the game sequel. We hope it eventually sees the light of day.
#5: Portal 3
Portal 2 is loved by fans and critics for its unique level design, puzzles, and test chambers. You’re equipped with a Portal Gun that lets you access places that would otherwise be locked up. So, it’s hard that Valve hasn’t released news or a trailer about Portal 3’s possible launch date. Instead, the days when Valve made games are gone since the company prefers to create handheld consoles nowadays.

Valve knows that Portal 3 will sell well because of its devoted fan base, but they’re still holding the game back. If you’re wondering if the creators are also interested in another Portal game, then the short answer is no. Sure, some developers love the idea but for the most part, many other creators aren’t interested in making Portal 3.
#6: Dark Souls 4
Dark Souls 3 was a memorable game with tough enemies, larger-than-life bosses, and unique weapons to pick up. It also got remastered for next-gen consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which is a testament to the game’s popularity. That said, FromSoftware has moved on to other games since then. This includes Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Bloodborne.
We would love to see the developer return to its roots. Instead of huge sandboxes, we want to eliminate enemies in tight corners with limited space. However, Dark Souls’ lore is already mind-bending, so we hope the game sequel won’t be full of video game plot holes.
#7: Metal Gear Solid VI
Ever since Hideo Kojima discontinued his partnership with Konami, news about Metal Gear Solid VI has been non-existent. We don’t know if there’s any chapter in Big Boss’ life that’s missing. And yes, we’re also not sure of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s conclusion. So, we wouldn’t mind a sequel to the fifth official entry in the game series.

Our Final Say: Many Unmentioned Game Sequels Are Out There
There are many games out there that also deserve sequels, yet the studios are facing numerous issues, such as funding. However, this is 2024, and our wish for the year is for these games to be announced. Before that time, you can enjoy games such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
