Yes, Rockstar Games has spent over £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6’s development. GTA V is a smashing hit that’s still sold in in-game stores and swapped between friends and lovers alike. There’s no denying the fact that Rockstar Games’ fangs are deep in the gaming industry’s jugular. Factor in the success of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the studio isn’t afraid to invest even more in video games.

To that end, reviewers at Player.me aren’t surprised by the news because GTA V cost the studio at least £200,000 to develop. The revenue from that game has long since crossed £6,000,000,000. Yes, you heard that right! Rockstar Games’ GTA V is one of the most successful entertainment products ever. We’re looking forward to GTA’s new entry and hopefully, it will beat the legacy left behind by its predecessor.

Confirmation That Rockstar Games Is Making GTA 6
Yes, the studio has confirmed the existence of GTA 6, and hopefully it will be released within the next three years. The studio didn’t release any demo, teaser, or trailer confirming the game’s development. Instead, the team has confirmed our suspicions via this tweet that the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is already in development.

GTA 6’s Development Phase
GTA 6 has been in development for almost a decade, with Rockstar Games reportedly confirming that they’ve been working on the game since 2015. A decade is enough time for the studio to spend £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6’s development. In fact, some reports even say that the game has been rebooted because it was leaked in September 2022. So far, several innovations have been made to the game, like lighting effects, water physics, and better character backstories. It’s supposedly one of the best GTA games ever. Hopefully, fans will be able to watch an official trailer before the end of March (Q1) 2023.
GTA 6’s Ridiculous Launch Price
The game will reportedly cost at least £100 at launch, which doesn’t make sense when you factor in the inflation experienced worldwide. However, we can only wait and see if that’s the actual price. Hopefully, the game will cost half that price.
Reasons Why Rockstar Games Believe GTA 6 Will Be a Smash Hit
It’s simple; Just look at the hype behind Uncharted 4 and God of War Ragnarok. Sony developed and hyped both games to sell their consoles faster. For one, “Rockstar Games has spent over £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6” and has already made the headlines. So, the game is already being hyped beyond reasonable proportions and sure enough, some fans are contributing negatively to its development.

We know some developers receive hate mail, threatening their safety if the game isn’t released on time. It’s probably why the studio hasn’t announced a release date yet. Besides that, GTA V had cheats for spawning helicopters and anything else you can think of, and we think its sequel can benefit from it. That said, here are some reasons why GTA 6 will probably be a smash hit.
It’s the Most Expensive Video Game Ever Made
So far, GTA 6 speculation touts the game as the most expensive video game that has been developed in the gaming industry. Rockstar Games is an innovator in the gaming industry because it’s constantly pushing the boundaries of the definition of a game. The studio is more than happy to create more chances and job opportunities for creators, developers, musicians, models, voice actors, and actresses to unleash their creativity.
Their need to innovate requires a lot of funding, so, naturally, the studio has spent over £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6. Especially as the game engine in it is reportedly one of a kind. The studio is fine-tuning its game engine so we hope the other developers will be able to catch up. For one, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still a technical masterpiece. Hopefully, the investment will help the gaming industry as a whole, solidifying its hold as a multi-billion-dollar niche.
Better Marketing Strategies Than GTA V
A hefty chunk of the money invested in GTA 6 is going to the marketing department, and Rockstar Games has one of the best PR teams ever. So far, we haven’t seen the usual announcements of pre-order bonuses, trailers, character previews, or insider pre-launch opinions. Additionally, the studio may break its tradition of low-cost marketing strategies like advertising GTA 5 in gaming forums to build up its hype.

Even if Rockstar Games hasn’t spent £1,000,000 on GTA 6, the studio is getting there. Especially as marketing eats up money faster than anything else at the studio. Don’t get us wrong. We’re not saying that this strategy is bad but for GTA 6 to beat its predecessors’ revenue and legacy, the studio needs to push the game to people who don’t even own a console. That means its marketing budget this time around should be huge if it wants its considerable hard work to pay off.
The Most Ambitious GTA Game Ever!
The map in GTA 6 will be three times bigger than the one in GTA V, and that means triple the 3D modelling, NPC animations, crowd effects, and many more. The game will reportedly be set in Miami, that is, Vice City, and its surroundings. So, we’ll surely get to roam the outskirts, whether to stage robberies or to hunt — we don’t know yet. However, we do know that the excitement is palpable.
- Welcome to Miami: Especially with the many leaks confirming that the events of GTA 6 won’t be limited to Miami alone, but also a huge chunk of Florida, including lakes. Also, it’s a modern-day Vice City, created to capture all of the city’s delights. It’s the same way that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enchants gamers who haven’t been to New York.

- New Landscapes: Moving forward, gamers can look forward to seeing many of Miami’s landscapes, including a huge tennis court, football stadium, airport, amphitheatre, and tram. Additionally, the equivalents of the Everglades and the Florida Keys are included. You can even expect to find multiple police stations so car pursuits and police intervention are much more realistic.
 - More Emphasis on Wildlife and Nature: The wildlife is more realistic than ever and likewise nature too. For one, there’s a variety of animals that are native to Florida, such as boars, alligators, birds, frogs, raccoons, bobcats, and rodents. Their modelling is far smoother than what players enjoyed in Red Dead Redemption 2. Also, there are many bodies of water in Florida, so the studio dumped millions into developing super-realistic water physics.
 - Enterables Are a Thing Now: You will be able to enter not only the gun store, but also strip clubs, motels, hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets. There are also working elevators, so the game is going to be more accessible.
 - Better AI and Improved World Dynamics: There are significant upgrades to the AI of the NPCs, characters, enemies, and police officers of GTA 6. So, winning gun fights or escaping police chases will be a lot more difficult than in GTA 5. This is simply because the AI in the game will be better and NPCs will also behave realistically. Moving forward, world dynamics are better than ever! There’s a great random encounter system for many events and on the side, the day-night cycles are far better too. In short, the world of GTA 6 is alive.

GTA 6 Leaks
Leaks portray GTA 6 as a killer action video game. So, we can expect next-gen graphics and character modelling. Let’s not forget the maps and the day-night cycles, so fans are hyped for the game. However, Rockstar Games isn’t happy that gamers have seen the game before it is ready. We feel the same way, especially as the water physics and modelling haven’t especially blown Red Dead Redemption 2’s visuals out of the water. Hopefully, the game will be better, with facial animations rivalling those in Uncharted 4.
GTA Online
GTA Online is the main reason why GTA V keeps making billions in revenue. Heck, the studio will keep milking the game until its sequel, GTA 6, is released. We can only hope that GTA 6 will introduce even better features than the ones we experienced in its prequel. That means the events system will be better and the core idea behind crews will be overhauled for a new experience.
Our Final Say: Have Rockstar Games Truly Spent Over £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6?
GTA 5 is a phenomenal crime game, so we’re looking forward to GTA 6 and the features that will make it a better experience than its predecessor. Look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The second game is better than the first game, but it’s still built on the skeleton of its predecessor. The leap in gameplay mechanics isn’t as drastic as the one between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
At this point, it doesn’t matter if Rockstar Games has spent over £1,000,000,000 on GTA 6 or not. Rather, we fear that there won’t be too much of a graphical leap between GTA V and GTA 6. However, the studio’s commitment to making the visuals better is commendable. For one, character models are far better in the new entry than the models of its predecessor. Facial expressions are more realistic, as are the movements of characters and NPCs. The studio also seems to have overhauled its weather system and lighting effects. To conclude, GTA 6 is looking good, though we don’t think Rockstar Games will earn back its investment within a year.
