Rare has unveiled its new trailer and content for Sea of Thieves Season 13, the popular action-adventure game they developed. In Sea of Thieves Season 13, Captain Flameheart returns with his iconic pirate ship, The Burning Blade. However, this time, it includes ten cannons, a crew of Obsidian Skeletons, and Ashen Roar weapons up front that can fire a powerful flame across great distances.
In this Sea of Thieves Season 13 new world quest, players can now select whether to oppose or swear allegiance to the villainous Captain Flameheart and challenge Flameheart’s dominating ship, The Burning Blade, or take control of it themselves.
It is not new news to followers of the game, as an announcement in June already informed players regarding this feature in Sea of Thieves Season 13. While Captain Flameheat was an antagonist not featured during the official launch, its arrival in 2019 has cemented its legacy as the Ashen Skeleton Lord people love and hate.

Tough Decision for Players to Make in Sea of Thieves Season 13

As mentioned above, Sea of Thieves Season 13’s world quest will focus on the return of Captain Flameheat and his partner, The Burning Blade ship. Before getting to the hard part of making a decision, players must attack The Burning Blade to see if they can capture it despite its improved defence.
If players succeed, they will have two options: Joining, which means skinking the ship into the depths of the ocean or Opposing, which means taking it for yourself, pledging your service to Flameheart as the new captain of The Burning Blade.
To help you make a better choice, players who choose to sink the ship will earn the Blade of Souls weapon, which grows more valuable based on how many completed rituals and can be traded in for gold and reputation. As for players opting to join Flameheart, you will get to take command of The Burning Blade, effectively becoming the villains of Season 13’s world event.
For context, all crews opposing Captain Flameheart will be able to see The Burning Blade’s location on the map, so you, the new captain, must fend off their attacks. However, if you decide to join Flameheart and The Burning Blade, your old ships will be abandoned. Thus, remember to transfer over all your treasure and resources before switching ships.
Sea of Thieves Season 13 Also Features Skeleton Camps, Outfits and Weapons
Besides the main world quest, a new Skeleton Camps event will simultaneously begin in Sea of Thieves Season 13. For context, if you are fighting Flameheart, you will have to battle skeletons to try to stop mysterious rituals from taking place.
As for the route of serving Flameheart, your objective is to go to these crypt vaults hidden in temples under these camps and solve puzzles. If you succeed, you will increase the value of any items stored on your ship, make a lot of money and increase your reputation.
Last but not least, players will unlock new Sea of Thieves outfits, weapons, commendations and rewards no matter which option you choose.
Sea of Thieves Brushes Off Shaky Start to Best Evolving Game
Despite Sea of Thieves’ success, the game initially received mixed reviews at launch, with praise for its visuals, open-world design, and cooperative gameplay but criticism for its perceived lack of content.

Over time, Rare has addressed many of these concerns through substantial updates and expansions, earning a more positive reception from the gaming community. The game even received multiple awards, like the Best Original Video Game Score award in 2019 and the Best Evolving Game at the 17th British Academy Games Awards in 2021.
With the game also receiving its second batch of life this year, as fans flood towards a potential PlayStation console release, the game has evolved into a beloved title in the action-adventure genre.
