In many ways, Assassin’s Creed Mirage promises a return to the series’ roots. We’re not just talking about gameplay style. The realisation of Valhalla’s daunting 150-hour length being excessive has prompted Ubisoft to confirm that Mirage will be significantly shorter. While there is no official tweet at the moment, French YouTuber Julien Chièze conducted an interview with the game’s Lead Producer, Fabian Salomon. During this conversation, it was stated that Assassin’s Creed Mirage playtime would be considerably reduced. Here are all the details.

How Long Is Assassin’s Creed Mirage Playtime?

The release schedule for the latter half of 2023 is positively teeming with highly anticipated titles, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage being among the standouts. Mirage, set to debut on October 12, reintroduces stealth gameplay after a notable change. However, this is only one of Ubisoft’s significant decisions for this title.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage playtime appears to be projected around 20-25 hours. Naturally, players may complete the single-player narrative quicker. Yet, a 30 to 35-hour adventure awaits those completionists among us. So, compared to Valhalla, this latest offering is practically a 1/5 of the size.
As reported by PCGamesN, Fabian Salomon — the game’s Lead Producer — completed it in 17 hours and 4 minutes during a trial playthrough. Since developers tend to progress through games quicker, a 25-hour gameplay estimate seems reasonable. This duration hits the sweet spot for an Assassin’s Creed game. After all, only some people are keen to embark on an epic 100+ hour saga akin to Valhalla.

Was Valhalla Too Long?

Yes — Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s single-player narrative spans 60 hours. When striving for full completion, the game takes around 160 hours, a staggering duration for any action game. Valhalla’s playtime is markedly expansive compared to games like GTA V (Excluding GTA Online). Without sufficient content to fill this length, it attracted considerable criticism for Valhalla.
So, will Ubisoft’s new direction prove successful? From what we’ve seen of Mirage, the signs are positive. Unlike Valhalla, the latest entry will not feature an open world. It instead leans towards stealth-based action reminiscent of the original trilogy, focusing on well-crafted levels rather than vast expanses to explore.
Fabian Salomon, the game’s Lead Producer, had this to say on Assassin’s Creed Mirage playtime:
Given that we do a lot of playtesting internally at Ubisoft, it’s part of our process, we really want to get as close as possible to the players, so we’ll say that the latest playtimes we’ve received average at around 20-23 hours. That can go up to 25-30 hours for the completionists, and we’ll say that those who will be rushing the game will be around 20 hours.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise may have seen a dip in popularity recently, but there’s a sense of optimism about its potential resurgence. The return to its roots could signify a revival of the series’ glory days.
Come October 12, we’ll witness what Mirage truly has to offer. That’s all we have on Assassin’s Creed Mirage playtime for now. Stay tuned for further updates in the days to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Assassin’s Creed Mirage a Full Game?
Yes — Assassin’s Creed Mirage represents the latest instalment in the storied franchise, set to release on October 12. Development duties have been undertaken by Ubisoft Bordeaux for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game’s single-player campaign is one of the shortest entries in the series. Nonetheless, the developers reassure players that quality, rather than quantity, of gameplay is their primary focus.
What Time Does Assassin’s Creed Mirage Take Place In?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage transports players to the 9th century, amongst the bustling streets of Baghdad, with gameplay centred on stealth. Players assume the role of Basim, a skilled assassin navigating one of Islam’s most significant historical periods. Plus, Assassin’s Creed Mirage playtime will be 20-25 hours. So we have a bunch of time for this story.
Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Worth It?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla holds a unique place within the franchise. It’s not merely its Norse mythology backdrop that sets it apart, but its full embrace of open-world mechanics. Ubisoft pushed all boundaries with Valhalla, transforming it into an expansive action experience. This grand scale, however, resulted in an arguably excessively lengthy game. That begs the question — is it worth your investment? Absolutely.
