Are you ready to return to the Soviet dystopia? Check out Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores to see if the second DLC offers enough to get you back in the game.
Atomic Heart offers a psychedelic journey into a Soviet nightmare while giving you unbeatable powers against robotic foes. Although it mostly flew under the radar for many, it came with a combat formula that’s a ton of fun throughout its gameplay set in a chaotic open world.
What’s more, it’s time to return to that chaotic place with the new Atomic Heart DLC. Check out Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores to see if it’s worth jumping right back into the freaky Russian world depicted by Mundfish.
Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo Review Scores
It’s quite obvious that the developer wasn’t aiming for a DLC with a narrative depth. The second DLC follows that event that took place in the main story in a rather strange way. It comes with mini-games, parkours, tough foes, and small arenas. While it’s always great to return to the vibrant world of Atomic Heart, the lack of depth in Trapped in Limbo renders it a rather trivial DLC.
Here are some of the Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores:
- XboxEra – 40
- Yardbarker – 70
- GameMag – 70
- ClutchPoints – 70
According to Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores, the way DLC tries to follow the “Good” ending is quite lacklustre. Although kudos to the devs for going the extra mile for both endings, Trapped in Limbo just can’t do the base game justice with its lack of actually meaningful content.
In Trapped in Limbo DLC, you realize that your wife Katya, whose personality was put into two hot, steel robot twin sisters, is stuck in Limbo. As the launch trailer says, Katya tries to help you escape from Limbo as you try to complete the five different levels that the DLC introduces.
In essence, these levels just consist of mini-games that clearly draw inspiration from hypercasual mobile games. Alongside them, it also features small arenas where you fight against strange, clown-like robots. The content of the DLC shows why it wasn’t among the anticipated expansion packs of 2024.
Is Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo DLC Worth It?
The second DLC to the chaotic action-adventure game from Mundfish has some interesting ideas. But it doesn’t expand upon them and prefers to throw a few mini-games your way in the Limbo. Make no mistake, the art and level design of the DLC is just beyond amazing. But that was already one of the strongest aspects of Atomic Heart. That’s why the DLC doesn’t bring anything new to the table, hence the rather brutal Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores.
In short, Trapped in Limbo is worth it if you’re craving to jump into the world of Atomic Heart once again. However, if you’re looking for a narrative depth that truly expands the lore of the base game, Trapped in Limbo isn’t worth it. Most critics believe that Mundfish could’ve come up with a much better DLC that has a great storyline.
What Is Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo DLC About?
Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo follows the events that took place in the good ending. A few missions before the ending, we find out that Sechenov sent the memories of Major P-3 into a personal Limbo.
Following a series of fights against the metal twins, the glove Char-les, or Chariton, consumes Dmitry Sechenov. While P-3 lies on the floor, we see that one of the twins extends her hand to P-3 as she descends from the sky. That’s exactly where the second DLC begins.
Final Thoughts
The Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores point out that the DLC offers a wild, vibrant world. While the new weapon skins, weird enemies, and mini-games can also be fun, the second DLC misses the mark greatly. That’s why it doesn’t feel like an essential expansion pack, unlike the anticipated Elden Ring DLC.
However, it’s still great to know what happened to P-3’s wife, Blesna. The DLC also sheds light on what happened to our protagonist before his memories were corrupted. Thanks to these factors, those who really enjoyed the base game will still find Trapped in Limbo interesting. We also suggest checking out the Atomic Heart Trapped in Limbo review scores on its Steam page, though. It should give you a broader view of the DLC.
