Most of us identify with the term “Gamer” in some respect. Games serve as a significant source of amusement for us all, whether your gaming journey began in the era of arcades or with a generation of Fortnite. On occasion, it can even morph into a professional career via esports. There are additional offshoots such as Twitch streaming, game writing, or in my case, game journalism. But the question is, what type of gamer are you? Discover your own ranking with this “Variety Gamer Score” test.

Variety Gamer Score Test

We’ve created a unique test for you, akin to various versions found online. The list includes 50 different games, handpicked from the most popular and familiar series. Thus, we’re confident that you would have encountered them in some capacity. Are there exceptions? Naturally. However, you can ascertain the count of variety gamers, given that nearly all genres are represented by at least one game.
Your game preferences can shift significantly depending on the platform at your disposal. For instance, if you own a PlayStation 5, you might not devote much time to PC exclusive games. Similarly, if you’re an Xbox One user, the PlayStation 4 library might seem a tad distant.

I took the plunge and completed this test prior to penning this article, achieving an overall score of 90/100. It provided a valuable insight into my personal gaming predilections. For instance, the fact that I’ve never engaged with Final Fantasy has always felt like a significant shortfall. Here are the game series that remain unexplored by me:
- League of Legends
 - Final Fantasy
 - Warhammer
 - Monster Hunter
 - Kingdom Hearts

These may appear as rather substantial games. However, I’m content having played similar ones. Especially considering the 1500+ hours I’ve invested in Dota 2, I suspect I wouldn’t miss out on much by bypassing League of Legends. Also, Animal Crossing is not on this list, but I haven’t played it either.

Much like the diversity in game types, the players are also categorised into distinct groups. These categories fluctuate depending on the games you play, the genres you prefer, and your specific in-game focus. The most prevalent player types are: Killer, Achiever, Socializer, and Explorer. If competitive games are your forte, you’re likely a “Killer”. Alternatively, if you’re drawn to single-player games, you might be an “Achiever”. The Bartle Test can help you decipher this.

The Streamer Awards, created by Twitch streamer QTCinderella, have been conducted twice to date. This event, featuring a multitude of award categories, operates based on audience voting. Nominees in this category are chosen from streamers who demonstrate versatility, playing a range of genres over the course of the year rather than focusing on a single game.
