Like many other tactical multiplayer first-person shooter video games, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege features a ranking system known as the “Ranked” mode, which allows players to compete against each other in ranked matches. In 2023, Year 7 Season 4, R6 ranks underwent a revamp with the introduction of Ranked 2.0 to refine a better system for players seeking that extra challenge.
For example, the changes in R6 ranks mean everyone has to start from Copper every season and a rank protection element to protect from previously de-rank scenarios. In addition, R6 ranks implemented a ranking algorithm that matches you with similar skill level players and many more.
Today, our article will dive into the tier list and MMR requirement of R6 ranks, end-of-season rewards, and a brief guide on how to rank quickly on R6 ranks.

Complete Tier List and MMR Requirement of R6 Ranks

After hitting level 50, you can participate in the R6 ranks and grind your way to the top in the quick match or newcomer queues. As for the total amount of R6 ranks, there are 36 in the game, with eight tiers from Copper to Champion and the first seven tiers also having five divisions for you. Attached below is the complete list:
- Copper: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Bronze: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Silver: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Gold: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Platinum: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Emerald: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Diamond: V, IV, III, II, I
 - Champions

Switching up from the previous ranked edition, R6 ranks now has a new Emerald tier sitting between Platinum and Diamond, and ranks are no longer based on MMR count, like in Valorant. Instead, each player will advance through the groups and divisions after achieving 100 Rank points, with players no longer needing to play in placement matches.
How to Quickly Climb R6 Ranks?
No matter how you spin it, climbing ranks in Rainbox Six Siege is similar to CS:GO, as the most fundamental thing you need is skill. As R6 ranks priced skill level as the highest representation of an individual’s performance, the game also awards a Hidden Skill value, which tells you how the game thinks you perform and determines your overall MMR gains and losses after every match.
We know it can be a daunting and exhausting climb, but there are some tricks you can learn to improve your efficiency in rising through the ranks. Listed below are some pointers our Rainbow Six Siege players/writers recommend:
- Play as a Team: While everyone would always want to stand out, team games are called team games for a reason, and you almost cannot single-handedly win a game against a well-composed opponent. Thus, prioritise communication and forgone personal KDA to win the match.
 - Utilise the Map, Equipment and Drones: Besides personal prowess and outplays, map layouts, type of equipment and drone knowledge can swing the match in your favour, particularly when you can set an ambush on your opponent’s strategy.
 - Review Your Performance Critically: Improvement is limitless when you have the mindset to go through the games you lost or even win, as you can have a mental image of what you could and should do next time you face a similar situation. You can check our article about Val tracker to learn more about performance reviews.
 - Do Not Feel Disheartened When Losing: Losing streaks are inevitable in multiplayer games, but never let yourself consume to rage or sadness. In fact, use it as a sign to refresh and catch a breather.

R6 Ranks Seasonal Rewards
After concluding your long seasonal grind, the game will present you with a hefty amount of rewards and charms depending on your performance. For example, you’ll unlock charms, Alpha Packs, and card backgrounds for every tier you reach and a subset of rewards from your progression through the division.
Attached below is a table regarding the seasonal rewards you can claim in your R6 ranks rise.

Parting Notes
Unquestionably, since the implementation of the new R6 ranks, matchmaking has drastically improved, providing a fairer and more accurate ranking system that lines up players with those closer to their Skill level. It is a feat that other esports are still trying to achieve, and before you slam your keyboard after losing, remember that it could be better than playing against hackers and smurfs.
