Dave the Diver is the inaugural game from MINTROCKET studios, and it seems like the best way to get your name out there, to come out with a fantastic game, no scandals or anything, just brilliant, addictive gameplay. So today, we’ll talk about Dave the Diver review scores.
There isn’t a bad review for this game out there yet. It almost reminds us of the release of Stardew Valley back in 2018. Just a lot more diving, fishing and operating a sushi restaurant at night. The only downside some people talk about is the repetitiveness of the end game content in this game, but for some people, that’s the ultimate reason to return to a game perpetually.

New reviews will be added in the coming days. However, as of now Dave the Diver’s score on Metacritic stands at 89. This average includes only the ratings given by critics. So far, 16 different websites have provided scores ranging from 80 to 100.
It is worth noting that most indie games don’t get points like these, with the exception of Stardew Valley and a couple of other games.
Here are some of Dave the Diver Review Scores:
- Game Rant – 80
- Multiplayer.it – 85
- IGN – 90
- Vandal – 90
- Screen Rant – 90
- God is a Geek – 95
- Softpedia – 95
- Digital Chumps – 100
- Eurogamer Germany – 100
You have to admit that these are some very impressive numbers, especially for an indie scuba-diving adventure. We don’t get to see many of those around and for good reason. It seems like a genre very hard to pull off.

Here are some comments from users who have reviewed Dave The Diver on Steam:
“What an incredible game. Beautiful art style, addictive gameplay and relaxing music. Combining the diving/exploration component with the restaurant management works wonders. The devs are amazing and genuinely care about their game. Cannot recommend it enough.”
“You know how sometimes you’re with the lads, then you tell them you’re off to bed but you’re actually playing that single-player game you’re addicted to? This is that game.”
“I stopped playing Zelda to play this.”
Given that the price tag of Dave the Diver is currently $18, with the 10% Summer sale going on, it is a great value. Do we have another Stardew Valley situation in our hands, a game people will be playing years down the line and still discovering new things and having some awesome fun while doing so? It seems to be going this way at this time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dave the Diver Worth It?
Dave the Diver is a single-player, casual RPG combining the exciting gameplay of fishing during the day and becoming a Sushi restaurant owner at night. What an odd combination. Because it is procedurally generated, there are so many other things to do in this game, and it is slightly addictive — this game is worth it. It’s one of the top games next to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
What Is Dave the Diver Rated?
Dave the Diver does not have an age rating for this game. There aren’t many profanities, violence or gore in this game, just a lot of diving, fishing, and at nights operating a Nights-only Sushi restaurant. Yes, there is a harpoon gun and a traditional gun you occasionally use, but those aren’t enough to give this game a rating. With a safe conscience, we can say this game suits children. Just make sure that they don’t get addicted to it.
Is Dave the Diver an Indie Game?
There are many indie games and indie studios out there right now. However, it isn’t hard to distinguish indie games from AAA games. Because Dave the Diver has so many good cutscenes, an excellent storyline, and countless hours of non-repetitive gaming, along with many mini-games, Dave the Diver still can be considered an indie game.
