After beating the Siofra River Well, you’ll arrive in Caelid via an elevator. You’ll know you’re heading to Caelid because the trip up is long-winded. Caelid is known for its monstrous residents, whose magic can tear through the chunkiest of health bars within seconds. It’s possible to teleport out of Caelid using the Sites of Grace.
But players who don’t mind the legwork will have to destroy a barrier before they can walk out of Caelid. Additionally, the ghostly apparitions wandering around the Town of Sorcery will attack you on sight. So, there’s no time to dilly-dally around the town lest you get hunted down. It’s needless to say that Sellia is a town full of mystical secrets.

Alternative Route to Sellia
Players unintentionally find themselves in Sellia once they open a chest in the Dragon Burnt Ruins of Limgrave. Immediately after you crack open the chest, you’ll be teleported to Sellia Crystal Mine. Once you exit the mine, you’ll end up in Sellia.

Five Sellia Barriers Exist
There are five barriers in Sellia though only one is blocking your path to the Town of Sorcery. Thankfully, players will learn how to break these barriers before this article is concluded. The barriers can be divided into two groups, depending on their size. In total, two large barriers are blocking architectural archways, and three small barriers are blocking small openings that are just enough for players to squeeze through.
- The Two Large Barriers: One of the significant barriers lets you escape the hellish landscape of Sellia. The other barrier leads to a boss fight against two opponents who will crush beginners. But luckily for experienced players, their treasures and skills will be enough to defeat both bosses.
- The Three Smaller Barriers: All three more minor barriers lead to chests, containing magical items that’ll aid you in your coming battles.
How to Break the Barriers in Sellia
To break the barriers in Sellia, you just have to locate the three towers with braziers on top. Once you’ve located them, you can light all three braziers in any order you want to break all the barriers in Sellia. The tricky part about making your way to the top of each tower is that you can’t take to the streets. Instead, you have to manoeuvre across the rooftops with care until you reach the top of each brazier.

Lighting Brazier One
The ideal spot to begin the journey to the first tower is at the main gate, which is still blocked by a barrier. You can recognise this gate by looking for the tree bearing the Golden Seed nearby. From the main gate, you can see all three towers with unlit braziers and from there, you can plot the best routes. So, head for the closest barrier to your avatar. You’ll have to platform across rooftops and tree trunks until you reach the end of a tree trunk.
You’ll know the tree trunk leads to the first tower because it’s twisted. In fact, the jump from the end of the tree trunk to the first tower is steep. So falling isn’t advisable, since you’ll have to restart from the main gate. You’re restarting because you’ll be hard-pressed to defend against the ghosts of Sellia, who were magic users when they were alive.
A major hint is to call on Torrent, your loyal steed. Just don’t call him after you jump because it makes your horse wobble mid-air. Once the brazier at the top of the tower is lit, the large barrier in the distance will disappear.
Lighting Brazier Two
After lighting the first brazier, return to the main gate and head left, off the balcony. Instead of manoeuvring your way across tree trunks, just jump across rooftops until you reach the base of the first tower. Climb the ladder until you reach the top of the tower to light up the second brazier. Once it’s lit, you’ll see the second barrier come down.
Lighting Brazier Three
The third brazier is easier to light up than the second one because of its accessibility. Just jump across the rooftops until you reach the third tower. Climb up the tower and burn the brazier to dispel all the barriers in Sellia. At this point, even the smaller barriers will have dissipated.

- The Imbued Sword Key: The Imbued Sword Key will be necessary for the series of warp gates found in The Four Belfries. The warp gates lead to different areas of the game.
- The Spelldrake Talisman +1: If you’re struggling against enemies that use magic to kill, then the Spelldrake Talisman is a great choice.
