The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a phenomenal game with tons of events to explore in its huge sandbox. Before Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it was the king of RPGs. Sure, it was a visually-pleasing game but the lore and magic found throughout the realm of the Witchers were immersive. More so because of Geralt, who could light enemies on fire, push them back using gravity, or drink Witcher potions to boost his fighting prowess.
This article focuses on the cocktails that affected the way gamers approached combat. Gone are the days when your character was Superman! In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt is still human but he was mutated enough to survive the adverse effects of his concoctions. Some potions let him see in the dark, while others bolstered his resistance to poison.

7 Best Witcher Potions We Would Love to See in The Witcher 4: Polaris
We loved our Witcher potions so much, and we hope the next protagonist will boast a higher tolerance than Geralt. Everyone at Player.com hopes it’ll be Ciri, the Ashen One, whose destiny was to close the rifts in the realms of the Witcher universe. Her affinity for magic is much higher than Geralt’s and the next entry in the game will showcase her growth. Still, we digress; We would love to see the next seven potions make a return in The Witcher 4: Polaris due to how satisfyingly good they were for combat. For intense combat, check out these Remedy Entertainment games.
#1: The Superior Thunderbolt Witcher Potion
The Superior Thunderbolt Potion is the pinnacle of alchemy builds in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It’s a potion that augments your attack power by 35% during fights. If there’s a storm overhead, it’ll increase your chances of dealing critical hits by 100%. Its toxicity is 25 and it can last for 90 seconds, so you have plenty of time to decimate enemies. To make one, you need seven ingredients in different quantities, such as 4 x Cortinarius. This is useful against bosses with long health bars who seem like they were torn out of horror indie games.

#2: The Werewolf Witcher Potion
The Werewolf Decoction is another combat-oriented potion that grants the user 50% stamina regeneration during combat. Outside of combat, you will never run out of stamina. So, exploring the sandbox and uncovering its secrets becomes a breezy affair. You’ll be able to jump and run to your heart’s content.

Sure, the decoction only works from 6 PM to 7 AM but a neat workaround for that limitation is meditating until the right time. After all, if Ciri or the next protagonist can’t run out of breath, it’s bad news for their enemies. This decoction requires four ingredients to craft, including a Werewolf mutagen.
#3: The Superior Petri’s Philter Witcher Potion
The Superior Petri’s Philter Witcher Potion is a must-have for players who prefer to mix in some spells while dealing melee attacks. It increases your attack power by 25%, so clearing crowds of enemies is easier. The good thing is that most fights won’t last a minute and even if they do, this potion’s duration is 90 seconds. Some of its effects on your Signs are:

- Igni: Igni usually burns players by chance but after drinking the Superior Petri’s Philter potion, everyone burns.
- Exploding Shield: The Exploding Shield also only pushes enemies back. However, once you drink this Sign-bolstering potion, every lower enemy caught by the shield will be staggered for a critical hit.
#4: The Superior Swallow Witcher Potion
The Superior Swallow Potion is particularly effective against bosses that deal passive damage against Geralt of Rivia. It lets you regenerate your health in and out of combat to varying degrees. In combat, 80 Vitality is regenerated over time and taking damage won’t affect it. In the later stages of the game, this can come in clutch against the main bosses.

#5: The Cockatrice Decoction
The Cockatrice Decoction is considered the ace up the alchemist’s sleeve because it lets you consume potions consecutively. So, if you’re trying to buff up Geralt to the extreme before a terrifying fight, this is the decoction for you. Part of the decoction’s allure is its 30 minutes, which is more than most fights in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, it’s known for its toxicity, which is a flaw that we hope Ciri won’t suffer from.

#6: The Forktail Decoction
The Forktail Decoction is another alchemist’s delight that we would love to see in The Witcher 4: Wild Hunt. You must alternate between using Signs and melee attacks to eliminate enemies and you’ll see your attack power rise like flour in a bakery. It’s so potent that it buffs your attacks by 50%. If you want to maximise this decoction’s potential, just counterattack. Don’t parry; Simply counterattack after a block.

#7: The Succubus Decoction
The Succubus Decoction is a passive potion that lasts for 30 minutes, gradually increasing Geralt’s attack power until it reaches its maximum. Overall, you’re looking at a maximum threshold of 30% during fights. So, it’s perfect for gamers who primarily focus on offensive stats rather than defensive perks. Taking damage won’t halt the Succubus Decoction’s potency in combat.

Our Final Say: We’re Open to Other Innovative Witcher Potions
The Witcher 4: Polaris is expected to deliver better features, graphical advancements, and combat mechanics. Right off the bat, most gamers preferred Geralt’s humour over his combat skills, which are awkward to a fault. However, the next entry is touted to beat the odds and deliver smooth fighting mechanics that we’ll crave even after completing the campaign.
To that end, we’re expecting some revolutionary elements that’ll overhaul the potion crafting system in The Witchers 4: Polaris. Maybe Ciri will be able to use potions faster or potions will make her more powerful than Geralt; Who knows? However, we’re still expecting new Witcher potions with better uses in and outside of combat in the upcoming game. Finally, The Witcher 4: Polaris should be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. However, Nintendo Switch owners will have to play other games like these upcoming exclusives. 2024, here we come!
