Forza Motorsport’s Update 1.0 List of Changes

As we mentioned, Forza Motorsport’s update 1.0 has brought many changes to the game, all aimed at making things easier and incentivising newer players. The update tackles four significant aspects of the game: Stability, Progression, Multiplayer Mode, and Accessibility.
On top of this, there are other minor tweaks to things like the Le Mans track, tuning setup, graphics, etc. We’ll cover each part of the update individually so you don’t miss out.
Stability

The first major change that comes with Forza Motorsport’s update 1.0 is fixing scenarios where the game would randomly crash. No player likes a game repeatedly crashing since it breaks the tempo and could make them miss out. That’s why Turn 10 Studios focused on removing all these crashing glitches. The ones mentioned in the patch notes are:
- Fixing the crash that occurred in the Builders Cup mode after upgrading a car and entering Open Practice in the Fox Body Challenge race at Watkins Glen.
- Fixing the crash that occurred on Grand Oak Club Circuit during a cinematic when entering Open Practice for the third race of the Builders Cup Intro Series.
- Fixing the crash that occurred when entering a Free Play race from the My Cars menu if there were too many cars with custom thumbnail images.
- Fixing the crash that occurred upon loading into a Free Play race.
Besides these specific crash scenarios, Turn 10 Studios also fixed general crashes throughout the game to improve stability, as mentioned in their patch notes.
This is a crucial fix since it has nothing to do with the gameplay but instead with how stable and bug-free a game is.

Progression
Forza Motorsport had a big issue that dealt with the Builders Cup feature. Before the update, you’d need to get the car to at least level 40 to start unlocking most of the car parts. This reduced the Modification and Customisation options for lower-level players, especially since getting to level 40 and above took a while. With Forza Motorsport’s update 1.0, the unlock levels for most parts have been significantly reduced. This allows players to start unlocking different car parts early, making further progression easy and fun.
A list of all the reduced levels is as follows:
- Engine and Drivetrain swaps: From levels 40 and 50 to level 25
- Tire Compounds: From level 11 to level 3
- Turbocharging (Single, Double, Intercooler Systems) and Weight Reduction: From level 20 to level 12
- Full suite of internal engine upgrades: From level 26-35 to level 15
These were definitely some much-needed reworks to make the Builders Cup enjoyable for everyone. Turn 10 Studios aimed to give players access to all parts of a car, as long as they played a single Builders Cup event, with the Forza Motorsport update 1.0.
They also released a quality-of-life update exclusive for Xbox Series X|S, only fixing the issue where players would lose their progress if they continued to play after an update was released in Forza Motorsport.
Multiplayer

Turn 10 Studios also looked towards an exploit in Multiplayer mode where players could post lap times from Practice sessions if they directly entered Qualifying immediately after. This will help make it a fairer environment for everyone and give victory to those who deserve it.
There were also some issues where incorrect Safety and Driver Skill ratings would be used in matchmaking and scenarios in which control of the car wouldn’t be handed back to the player upon exiting Featured Multiplayer mode. Both of these were corrected in the Forza Motorsport update 1.0.
Accessibility
Accessibility is a significant component of any video game. The issue that persisted in Forza Motorsport was related to the custom keybindings not being saved after players would set them, either on the controller or keyboards. This was fixed in the Forza Motorsport update 1.0, along with the persistence of speech-to-text or text-to-speech windows, which forced players to restart.
These were minor changes, but having to restart each time a glitch occurs definitely impacts a player’s willingness to play the game. Other than that, having your custom key binds is almost necessary in video games nowadays so that people can set binds that feel comfortable to them.

Conclusion

By issuing so many persistent bug fixes, players are more inclined to invest time into the game due to its smooth running. Hopefully, we’ll see future updates just as we go, which will take the game to the next level.
