What Is the Plot of Hades?

In Hades, you follow the story of Zagreus, son of Hades, as he attempts to escape the underworld. It’s a tough journey, but thankfully, you’re not alone. You’ll get help from other Greek gods and goddesses, uncovering family secrets and complex relationships along the way.
As you clear each room of enemies, you’ll receive boons from these Greek deities, enhancing your abilities. Since Hades is a dungeon-crawler roguelike game, each run you embark on is unique.
However, there’s a catch. You can’t keep the boons from one run to the next. You have to relinquish them all before starting anew. With each attempt, Zagreus grows stronger, preparing you for the ultimate challenge: Defeating the final boss.

Can You Play Hades on MacOS?
Yes, Hades also has MacOS support.
Minimum system requirements for playing Hades on MacOS are as follows:
- CPU: Dual Core 2.4 GHZ
- RAM: 4 GB
- GPU — Video Card: Intel HD 5000 (Must support Metal API)

What Languages Does Hades Support?

Hades features complete translations in French, German, Russian, Korean, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. It is important to note that these are text-only translations.
As of 2023, Hades does not have official voiceover support in any other language than English.
Different translations of the game are valid for all versions. As of December 2023, you can play Hades on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and MacOS. It is not currently included in the Game Pass library, but this may change in the coming months.
Who Made Hades?
The talented team behind this game is Supergiant Games, which was founded in 2009. You might have heard of their other works, too. Other than Hades, the studio has made Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre — they are now working to create Hades II.
Hades was designed by Amir Rao, Gavin Simon, Greg Kasavin, Alice Lai and Eduardo Gorinstein. Greg Kasavin is also credited as the game’s writer. The art designer of Hades was Jen Zee, and the composer was Darren Korb. Overall, there are so many talented individuals in the studio, and we strongly urge you to support independent games and studios.
Is Hades Difficult?

The short answer to this question is no. Hades is not an inherently challenging game. Nevertheless, this is, of course, a subjective matter. So, let’s dive into the more complicated and longer answer.
If you are used to the roguelike genre, then Hades will be a piece of cake for you. However, if this is your first time playing such a game, you might need a bit of practice. In Hades, you will die over and over again and constantly start over. Yet, with each death, you will find yourself stronger. So no, Hades is not difficult, but you may need some getting used to.
Since Hades does not have cross-play support, you have to complete this challenging adventure alone. If you find the game too difficult for you, then you might want to try God Mode. God Mode in Hades is an option that can be toggled on from the settings. It grants the players 20% damage resistance, and it increases by 2% at the end of each run until you get 80% damage resistance and practically become indestructible.
Is Hades Free-to-Play?
Hades is not a free-to-play game, but starting in 2024, Hades will be included in Netflix Games’ free library. However, the game will only be playable on an iPhone or an iPad.
If you do not want to play it through Netflix, then you might want to know that the retail price of Hades is currently $24.99. However, this number tends to change quite frequently due to sales, so you might want to keep your eyes peeled.
With this, we conclude our Hades guide. We will keep you updated about news regarding the future of Supergiant Games, as well as the Hades series. Let’s see if Hades II exceeds our expectations.
