One of the most critically acclaimed games of our time, Hades, has been teasing a sequel for many months now. Hades II is set to release in 2024, and we are very excited about it. So, before we jump into the sequel, let’s brush up on our knowledge regarding the first game and talk about Hades cross-platform and cross-play features.
Developed by the independent game studio Supergiant Games, Hades is a single-player roguelike experience that delves into Greek mythology. You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, who aims to escape the underworld, but this is no easy feat. Throughout his journey out of the underworld, Zagreus meets many different Greek gods and goddesses and faces many other challenges.
Hades Cross-Platform Support

Hades can be played on any gaming console, including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and MacOS devices. It has also been announced that Hades will be released for iOS in 2024.
So, if you were wondering whether your gaming platform can support the game, the good news is that you can play this game on practically any console that you want. Hades cross-platform support is extensive, but be sure to check the system requirements of the game.
But what about the future? Is Hades II also going to be a cross-platform game? According to Supergiant Games’ official statement, it is expected that Hades II will also be available for both PC and gaming console platforms.
Does Hades Have Cross-Play Support?

No, Hades does not feature cross-play support. The primary reason for this is quite straightforward — Hades is a single-player game through and through. Without any online or co-op modes, there’s simply no need for Hades cross-platform play, as there’s no scenario where different platforms would need to interact within the game.
This is also expected to be the case with Hades II. As of now, Supergiant Games hasn’t made any announcements regarding a multiplayer feature. Should the sequel remain a purely single-player experience like its predecessor, it wouldn’t require cross-play functionality either.
Hades Cross-Progression Support
Hades has cross-progression support. However, this support has some limitations. Whether or not you can use the cross-save feature varies depending on which platform you play on.
As of 2023, Hades allows cross-saves between PC or Mac (In both Epic Games Store and Steam) and Nintendo Switch. Hades also allows for cross-saves between your Xbox console account and Microsoft Store account. But you can’t use your Steam and Epic Game Store saves with Xbox.
Since Hades cross-platform support is extensive, you might want cross-progression support for PlayStation too. Sadly, there are currently no other platforms where this feature is available. For instance, if you started the game on your PlayStation and wish to continue on your PC, then sadly, you will have to start again.
Your saved data also cannot transfer between two different PlayStation versions. This means that if you started playing Hades’ PS4 version, then you cannot move your save onto your PS5 version.
Final Thoughts
Hades is going to blow your mind if you are playing it for the first time. Its replayability, memorability and fast-paced tempo will keep you on your toes. We hope you enjoy your stay in, or your escape from, the underworld. From its soundtrack to its simple but effective game mechanics, it is apparent that Hades is going to be a classic.
