In an unforeseen event, Honkai: Star Rail has secretly changed the EN voice actor for one of its five-star characters, Argenti. According to fan hxg_diluc, he discovered that Argenti was now sporting a different voice actor on the game’s official website despite no official announcement from HoYoverse.
In the Twitter post shared by hxg_diluc, we can see that Talon Warburton will now voice Argenti, while Argenti’s previous voice, Adam Michael Gold, is no longer listed. In a similar issue, Gold, who was also the voice of Huohuo’s companion, Mr.Tail, is now replaced by Aaron Veach.
Coincidentally, fans have stated in previous months that they could not hear Argenti’s EN VA in the Penacony 2.2 story quest despite hearing his VA in other languages, which led to worrying claims of Gold being ill. While Gold later clarified on Twitter that he was healthy and looking forward to continuing his Argenti VA journey, this sudden replacement could have something hidden beneath that we lacked context until we heard from both parties.

Talon Warburton Will Now Voiced Argenti’s EN
While there is no official confirmation yet, let’s presume that Adam Michael Gold is indeed, unfortunately, replaced by Talon Warburton. If that is the case, he will have his work cut out for him, as many fans in the community were pleased with Gold’s interpretation of the Knights of Beauty.
Released in the game’s 1.5 update in December last year, Argenti arrived as a “Physical” character, following the “Erudition” path, offering heavy AoE Physical damage and a solid replacement for non-Clara havers. However, his most captivating feature was his flamboyant tone and humorous way of speaking while seeking justice, which led to many in the community labelling him “Silly Beauty”.
Argenti also recently received his first re-run during the second half of Star Rail’s Version 2.3, alongside new Quantum character Jade. However, this is where the topic of no EN voice line for the character continued as players felt vexed by not hearing their favourite knight in shining armor.
If we were to follow the examples of previous changes in VA in miHoyo games, Talon Warburton would have to re-record all of Argenti’s voice lines. Fortunately, Warburton has experience with the company as he was the voice of Moseis in Genshin Impact, the infamous antagonist in Nahida’s first story quest.
Argenti’s EN VA Change Is Not the First in miHoyo Games

Although the sudden change of Argenti’s EN VA was unexpected, it is not the first VA replacement in miHoYo gacha games. For example, when Honkai: Star Rail officially announced Chris Niosi as the VA for the game’s upcoming 2.5 character Moze, fans and victims immediately demanded the developers replace Niosi.
For context, Niosi, also known by his online alias Kirbopher, is a voice actor and animator who was involved in various controversies, including allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse. In 2019, Niosi publicly admitted to past abusive behaviour in his personal and professional relationships, which included emotional manipulation, harassment, and other inappropriate actions.
Following these admissions and allegations, significant professional repercussions accompanied Niosi, as he lost his role as the voice of Byleth in the English version of the video game “Fire Emblem: Three Houses” and “Fire Emblem Heroes by Zach Aguilar, who ironically voiced “Aether”, the male protagonist in Genshin Impact.
Since these issues have been brought back to light, Niosi has stated he will step down from his role as Moze and take a break from social media. Besides Niosi, miHoYo also faced similar issues when they dropped Elliot Gindi as Tighnari’s EN VA in Genshin Impact after fans and victims accused him of grooming underage fans, engaging in transphobic behaviour, emotional abuse, and streaming in his underwear with alleged sexual intent.
Parting Notes

Although everything is not set in stone yet, as there is still no official announcement from either Gold or Honkai: Star Rail, fans are still hoping for the best for both parties as the voice actors make the characters feel alive as much as the characters make the voice actors shine.
