The bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake demands more strategy than simply completing the world’s normal stage. Each boss possesses different powers and utilises various puzzles throughout the game.
Bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake
Bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake have 4 HP bars; Once you deplete them all, the boss will be defeated.
In most of the levels, the boss is situated in the centre and controls puzzles. In some, they are confined to one side, like in Slippery Summit and Twitch Light City.
Let’s examine all the bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake, their powers, and how to defeat them in just a few seconds.
1. Mario Toy Company Boss
In Mario Toy Company, the boss stays on the central block, equipped with a colour switch and hanging chain powers. While you will be on the lower surface, make a strategy to go up towards Donkey Kong.
That being said, you need to pick up the dustbin and then determine which colour block Donkey Kong is pressing. More importantly, stay away from the hanging chain power that throws stuff. If you’re hit, you’ll lose power.
By slashing through the blocks and hitting Donkey Kong with the dustbin, you’ll remove one power bar. Once you successfully hit Donkey Kong four times, the boss will be defeated. You can defeat this boss in just 40 seconds in your second or third attempt.
2. Donkey Kong Jungle Boss
Considered one of the easiest boss fights, it barely takes 30 to 50 seconds to defeat this jungle boss in Mario vs. Donkey Kong. There aren’t very complicated mechanics involved in this fight; All you have to do is avoid the hoppycats coming from Donkey Kong’s side.
Let’s look at the positions: Mario is on the upper side, on ropes, with one end of the rope attached to a tree and the other to a wooden bridge. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong lies on a movable block that helps him throw hoppycats at Mario. These creatures start clinging to all the ropes, and there are also multiple fruits hanging toward the gaps of the ropes.
Your task is to avoid the hoppycats and hit the hanging fruits towards Donkey Kong. Once you successfully hit Donkey Kong with these fruits four times, he will run away from the jungle towards his next location.
3. Fire Mountain Boss
Similar to the blazing levels in Fire Mountain, the boss here presents a moderate challenge but isn’t overly difficult. You’ll find Donkey Kong positioned on the middle block, while Mario is on a lower surface surrounded by blocks above him. Even for an expert player, it typically takes at least 60 to 80 seconds to defeat the Fire Mountain boss in Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
Let’s now consider what Donkey Kong has to thwart Mario’s attempts to rescue mini Mario from him. Donkey Kong employs two powers: Throwing drums in the first wave and launching giant fireballs towards Mario in the second wave. This deadly combination puts Mario in jeopardy and could result in the loss of a 1-Up.
Although Donkey Kong uses a drum as a weapon, he is unaware that Mario will turn it against him. Once the drum stops on the surface, you simply need to pick it up, dodge the other fireballs and drums, and move up towards Donkey Kong to throw it at him.
4. Merry Mini-Land Boss
While you may have been enchanted by Merry Mini-Land’s charming vibrant background and entertaining elements, don’t be surprised — the boss here will not be nicer to you. Like other bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake, it possesses four health bars. In this scenario, Donkey Kong rests on the central block surrounded by air flowers that continuously transform from air flowers to blooming flowers, aiding both Donkey Kong and Mario.
Donkey Kong throws spike drums in each wave while the flowers transform, and a dustbin spawns on the ground. Across these flowers, two blocks on each side assist you in moving up towards Donkey Kong.
Now, all you have to do is pick up the dustbin from the ground and dodge the spike drums hurled by Donkey Kong. Then, jump from block to block, hitting Donkey Kong with the dustbin, and leap onto the air flower while avoiding the blooming flower. You must repeat this process four times until all four health bars of Donkey Kong are depleted.
5. Spooky House Boss
The Spooky Town is only spooky by its name, not by the boss itself. Spooky Town boss is so easy to defeat in just 30 seconds. Same like in Mario Toy Company colour switch buttons are utilised. However, instead of a colourful structure, Donkey Kong controls key-ghost toys with these switch buttons.
There are three respective blocks on the right and left sides of the stage for your navigation. Once Donkey presses the button key-flying ghosts spawn from the sky and then slowly start moving on these blocks. Once these blocks come to the ground, you can pick each one. After picking all of them, all you have to do is move upwards toward Donkey Kong and hit him with these toys.
Also, once you hit, you can do a combo by hitting another toy that is moving on the upper block. In this way, you can hit two times by going up once, and in just two waves, you can finish this boss.
6. Slippery Summit Boss
Nintendo seems to have placed significant importance on this boss fight, introducing entirely novel puzzle mechanics and utilising slippery surfaces as the main challenge. Here, Donkey Kong lies on a movable block on the right side, equipped with a gear.
This block flips upside down after switching gears, moving through three different heights before falling back to its original position. During this gearing change, Donkey Kong throws revolving spikes and frozen balls fall from the sky in each wave. To avoid these threats, you must pick up the drum slippers located on the left side and throw them towards Donkey Kong. If he’s on the second height, the drum will hit him directly.
Alternatively, you can slide the drum across the slippery surface to hit Donkey Kong if he’s on the same fighting level. However, you cannot hit Donkey Kong when he’s on the third fighting level. These mechanics and novelties make it one of the toughest bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.
7. Mystic Forest Boss
The Mystic Forest boss isn’t very unfamiliar. Here, all the same mechanics are used, but the blocks are somehow different. In Slippery Summit, you have to deal with a slippery surface, while here, similar mechanics are used on movable blocks with belts that move in reverse.
In each wave, Donkey Kong spawns a Bob-omb that can explode upon hitting you. Your core strategy should be to move toward these movable blocks, and once Mario produces a Bob-omb, quickly pick it up and hit it towards Donkey Kong. By staying there, you can create a combo by hitting four Bob-ombs together. This makes it one of the easy-to-defeat bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.
8. Twilight City Boss
Now, we find ourselves in the City of Lights, but the boss itself lights up with a very dark nature. Here, the entire stage area lights up with continuous red, blue, and yellow laser beams, making this boss one of the most challenging bosses in Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake.
The boss fight stage is divided into two blocks, each consisting of one lower block and one upper block, so there isn’t any direct fight. Mario’s side is filled with laser beams and has two buttons one on the lower block and one on the upper block.
Here, you have to avoid the lasers and complete a circle between your blocks upside down. By pressing one button, one adjacent laser will be removed, and you have to do this four times. In each successful wave, one Bob-omb moves toward Donkey Kong on the second block in a zigzag motion, reducing Donkey Kong’s health bar. In this way, you can defeat this tough boss and successfully rescue all the Mini Marios.
