Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming out on February 24, 2024. If you have not yet played the first game of the trilogy, namely Final Fantasy VII Remake, you still have time. In this article, we aim to help you decide which platform to start playing this game. Follow along if you want all your questions regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake cross-platform support to be answered.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Cross-Platform Support
Final Fantasy VII Remake has cross-platform support. You can play the game on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 5 version has better graphics, 4K support, and a little extra intermission story at the end of the main game.
This was not always the case. Final Fantasy VII Remake was first released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in the spring of 2020. However, the enhanced version of the game, named Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, was released not only for PlayStation 5 but also for PC in 2021.
Unfortunately, Final Fantasy VII Remake cross-platform support does not extend to Xbox. Nonetheless, the prequel can be played from an Xbox gaming console. If you are not a PC or PS player but would like to get a taste of this world, then you should try your hand at Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
Does Final Fantasy VII Remake Have Cross-Play Support?
Final Fantasy VII Remake is not a multiplayer experience, so there is no cross-play support. In fact, none of the games in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is multiplayer. You might be thinking of Final Fantasy XIV, which is a completely different massive multiplayer online roleplaying game.
So, if you were thinking of joining your friends’ adventures in Final Fantasy VII Remake, then you might be a little bit upset by this news. However, thanks to the Final Fantasy VII Remake cross-platform support, you can play it by yourself through a PlayStation or PC. It is still a fantastic game, even if there is no online mode available.
We don’t know if there is going to be a multiplayer mode for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy in the future. If such news comes out, we will make sure that you are the first to know about its cross-play abilities.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Cross-Progression Support
Sadly, the Final Fantasy VII Remake has no cross-progression support. So, there is no way to transfer your savings from one platform to another. You will have to start and finish the game from only one gaming platform.
What’s more, cross-progression support will also not be available for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In other words, we will not be able to continue playing from where we left off in the first game of the trilogy. While playing the second game, we will have to start over.
