Stray has turned into a pretty big hit among computer and PlayStation gamers. But what about Xbox gamers? Will they also get to enjoy Stray?
Gamers that are exclusive to one console or the other are nothing new for gamers. It’s a marketing strategy for the console companies and can be pretty annoying for gamers, especially when a game is exclusive to a console forever.
If you’re an Xbox owner, heard of Stray and want to play it, you’re probably wondering whether you’ll ever get your hands on the game. The following article will have a look at how likely it is that Stray will come to the Xbox and Game Pass in the future.
Stray? What Kind of Game Is That Anyway?
If you ended up here without knowing anything about Stray apart from it being a cat game, let me give you a basic introduction!
Stray is a fairly relaxed action adventure with a cat as the protagonist. It is unknown whether the cat is male or female, they’re only ever called “Little one”. In Stray, it’s your job to get the little one out of trouble and back to their friends.
Stray consists of a lot of jumping around, finding your way through a futuristic city with robots. There are puzzles, including jumping puzzles, stealth sections, and sections during which you need to run for your nine lives.
And yes, you can shove stuff from cupboards, tables, and other high places. Sometimes, that’s how you solve problems. Well, as a cat anyway!
It’s a cute, engaging adventure that will also appeal to people who aren’t into cats that much.

Is Stray Coming to Xbox?
There are no official words on this topic yet. For now, Stray is not available on the Microsoft Xbox Store nor on the Xbox Game Pass.
That doesn’t mean that the game will always be a PlayStation exclusive. Some titles that were timed exclusives for PlayStation consoles made it to the Xbox, e.g. Oddworld: Soulstorm.
Nobody yet knows whether Stray is going to be forever exclusive to PC and PlayStation or whether it is just exclusive for a limited time. The game is nearing its one year anniversary, and we’ll hopefully know more about the details by then.
When Will Stray Come to Xbox?
If Stray turns out to be a time-limited exclusive only, then the game could come to the Xbox in the second half of 2023 or early 2024. PlayStation titles always stay exclusive for at least one year, but sometimes even longer.
Until there’s official word on Stray, it’s hard to predict when or if Xbox gamers will get access to this fun adventure.
Is Stray Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
As we don’t know whether Stray will be released for the Xbox, it’s impossible to say whether it’ll be on Game Pass or not.
It could come to Game Pass, but probably not straight after its Xbox release. The most likely scenario is that the game will be released as a normal game to buy, and then added to Game Pass a few months later.

When Was Stray Released? Which Platforms Is Stray Available on Now?
Gamers were able to get their hands on Stray from July 19th, 2022 onwards. Up to now (April 2023), Stray can only be played on Microsoft Windows PCs, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

How Long Does It Take to Beat Stray?
Stray isn’t a very time-consuming game. If you ignore everything but the main story, you can rush through the game in 5-6 hours. A second playthrough can be as short as 2 hours, and there’s even an achievement for a speed run.
If you like taking your time, doing side quests and getting achievements, you can spend 10-12 hours with the cute cat.

What Does It Mean When a Game Is Exclusive to a Certain Platform?
There’s a lot of competition among consoles, especially between PlayStation and Xbox. Sometimes, certain games are exclusive to one or the other.
This means, the game will not be available on the other consoles. A current example is The Last of Us. While available for PC gamers, too, it’s a PlayStation exclusive, i.e. not available on other consoles.
