Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a 2024 fighting game that plays out in the third-person view. Nevertheless, the game doesn’t only shine because of its combat system but also because of its storytelling and compelling characters with original stories. The events of the game revolve around Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, a duo with complicated pasts.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows PC. As of September 2023, a trial version of the game was available in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. However, Player.com had to beat the main story first.

Enjoy the Experiences of Two Protagonists
The two major characters in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu. Ichiban Kasuga is a hardcore fighter who can’t be stopped in a fight. He’s an underdog who doesn’t mind fighting his way from rock bottom to the top of the totem pole. However, you miss your mother so your goal is to reunite with her and thankfully, there are many allies around to help you out.
Kazuma Kiryu, on the other hand, is a broken man who is on his last leg. He’s fighting off lung cancer, which is similar to Arthur’s plight in Red Dead Redemption 2. We don’t want to spoil the game, but Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth isn’t Red Dead Redemption 2. These two protagonists offer unique perspectives on the game and yes, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Whether your partnership is a blessing or a curse in disguise, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth lets you explore the answer.
The RPG Is Still as Immersive as Ever!
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth shines because it’s an RPG which essentially turns the environment into a tool for dealing maximum pain. You can beat enemies with folded chairs, baseball bats, and even use environmental hazards to decimate them. If you’ve played Sleeping Dogs before, you can expect the same fast-paced action in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

In short, anything goes on the battlefield, especially if you’re a gangster. Likewise, you’ll be tasked with managing your party’s combat prowess and approach to jobs. Sure, some of the moves that you can pull off are outlandish, but this is still a game. So, moves that are over the top are allowed. That’s not to say that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth doesn’t reward strategic players. It does and it’s your job to adapt to every encounter, almost like you’re playing Persona 5 Tactia.
Two Sandboxes Await
Having connections to the Yakuza has its benefits since you can explore Japan and Hawaii to your heart’s content. In short, this is a Pacific-spanning campaign that will let you tackle a fine blend of main quests, side missions, and activities on the go. For one, you can run food delivery jobs or pull off impressive stunts.
The world is yours and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth invites you to partake. Thankfully, having two regions to explore ensures that the game’s price is worth it. For one, you can expect more than 60 hours of playtime and that’s for the main campaign only. If you’re a completionist, expect to play the game for more than 100 hours.
Hawaii is a coastal city, while Japan is a moderately-sized island with dense populations. So, it’s nice to switch up the scenery from time to time. Explore beaches or beat down enemies in tight alleys; The choice is yours.
Turn-Based Combat and Beat ‘Em Up Mechanics Await
Yes, a turn-based combat system awaits in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which means it’s basically a game of strategy. Still, there are tons of distinct features in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that we enjoyed along the way.
- Characters Can Now Move: Unlike previous Yakuza games, you can now move your characters to strategic positions on the battlefield. Move your character closer to a foe to deliver a killer blow or go pair up with one of your friends to execute combo attacks. Yes, you have to move towards bicycles and other objects in your vicinity to use them as weapons.
- Attacks with Wide AoE Are Available: Remember when we mentioned that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth stuns with some unrealistic attacks? Well, those attacks are varied, with some functioning in a straight line while others will affect every foe in your vicinity. Yes, you can lock onto targets, especially when they’re clustered so you can mow them all down like bowling pins.
- Knockback Attacks Are Better Now Than Ever: Knockbacks are attacks that do what they say, which is to push enemies back. In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Knockbacks are more potent because you can knock enemies into walls and other sturdy objects to deal more damage. Additionally, you can push enemies into each other and inflict status ailment on the unlucky souls who are on the receiving end of your blows.
- Combo Attacks Couldn’t Be Easier: You can now chain combos with your allies by approaching your friends. Yes, we hinted at this before but what you don’t know is that you must have a strong connection with an ally to chain combos with them. You must bond with your friends to unlock even more devastating moves.
Our Final Say: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is another masterpiece set in the Yakuza universe and sure, it stuns with tons of combat elements. Also, its cast of characters feels authentic because of their animations and complex behaviour. It’s like you’re playing Half-Life again and you must get used to ridiculously smart AIs.
That said, Player.com isn’t the only party of reviewers who feel strongly about the game. It’s stupendous to be able to fight five goons at once; Especially when our protagonists aren’t professional kickboxers or martial artists. Know what else is still impressive? The immersive storyline seems shallow on the outside but increasingly gets more complex as you progress in the game.
