MW2 Season 5 Story

The story for MW2 season 5 seems to be a continuation of the story of last season, right after Commander Philip Graves was presumed KIA during a deadly tank battle. (Spoiler Alert) Graves is not dead but instead has set up a meeting with Task Force 141 after the death of Hadir to discuss the incoming threat, AKA Vladimir Makarov.

New Maps in Modern Warfare 2

With the announcement of season 5, a bunch of new maps have been confirmed to arrive in MW2. There are going to be three different maps released as core maps for the game and two maps that will only be available in Gunfight mode.
MW2 Core Maps

The first map coming to MW2 is the Punta Mar, which is a 6v6 map available at the launch of season 5. This map is an abandoned tourist attraction in Las Almas on a hill, so players will have to manoeuvre through the terrain while also being careful of any enemies hiding in shops or rooftops.
The next map is called Strike, which will also be available as soon as season 5 launches. Yes, this is the same map as in the original Modern Warfare, with some small adjustments to make it fit for MW2.
The final map will be released mid-season and is called the Defense Research Center (DRC). This map is particularly different from any map we have seen so far, with brighter colours and good lighting throughout the map. Since it is a core map, it will have ample space for players to camp and pick their opponents apart one by one.
MW2 Gunfight Maps

The first Gunfight mode map to be introduced in season 5 is called Lounge and will be available at launch for Gunfight mode. This map is placed in a high-scale club, which provides a compact space, so players will have to stay on their toes if they want to take down their enemies.
Another Gunfight map is the Canal which is inspired by the city of Amsterdam with a bit of water involved and will also be a compact map, so players will have to be vigilant around corners.
MW2 Gaming Modes

Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 also introduces a couple of new modes that the players can dive into for the sake of fun and won’t have much to do with the actual story of the game. These include Havoc, Big Capture the Flag, Gunfight Variants, and Face Off. All these modes will place you in different situations, such as giving you moon gravity.
Havoc mode will apply a different modifier whenever your team’s score is a multiple of 12. The modifier can range from auto-reloading your ammo, swapping your camera view to a third person, or allowing you to just from great heights to inflict damage. Big Capture the Flag has players capture flags placed at different locations around the map.
Gunfight Variants will include allowing players to go into a 2v2 Gunfight mode with different loadouts. The most notable is the Armored Gunfight mode, where players come to play with 150 armor and 100 HP. Finally, Face Off is just a 4v4 Gunfight where players have to eliminate the opposing team.
New Quests in MW2

The introduction of the Vondel Champion’s quest in the game means that players will be able to play. To have the opportunity to be able to attempt this quest, your squad must first win five consecutive matches in Mini Royale Matches.
Also, the quest includes three different elements in the game that players are not familiar with. Here is the name of all three elements and their effect on your Operator:
Element | Effect |
Gallium | Reveals all nearby team members who held it previously |
Deuterium | Fatigues Operator so they cough when they run |
Neptunium | Periodically electrocutes all nearby Operators and vehicles |
New Vehicles in MW2

There are two vehicles that are going to become part of the MW2 universe with the release of Season 5. The first is the MRAP, which is just an armored vehicle built to withstand heavy fire from enemies thanks to additional armor plating and turrets. Nothing short of Launchers, LMGs, or Killstreaks can hope to do any damage.
Also, Season 5 includes the Dirt Bike, which is perhaps one of the quickest ways of transport, alongside just looking cool. With this bike, you’ll be able to get some decent airtime during stunts and also be able to do some wheelies.

Call of Duty Reveal Event

The MW2 season 5 also brings a Call of Duty reveal event that will give an in-game preview of the next CoD title. It might not be available at the release of the new season, but it will certainly be a part of this season, as confirmed by a tweet by the developers of Call of Duty. However, the specifics of the event have not yet been released at the time of writing, and thus we must wait for the event or an update from the developers to get more information.
New Guns Release in MW2

Included in the next season of MW2 are a bunch of different new guns that the players will be able to use. Here is a list of all the new weapons to be released this season and their types:
Weapon | Type | Release |
FR Avancer | Assault Rifle | Available at launch |
Carrack .300 | Sniper Rifle | Available at launch |
M13C | Assault Rifle | Will be made available mid-season |
At the time of writing, there are three more weapons to be released this season but whose names have not yet been confirmed. However, the weapon types have been confirmed and are as follows: one handgun, one SMG, and one melee weapon.
Conclusion
Modern Warfare 2 season 5 comes with a bunch of new updates for the game, but there is little information regarding the preview for the next Call of Duty game. Players will have to wait and see what the development team has in mind for them.
