Neverness to Everness from Chinese gaming giant Perfect World is the latest entry into the open-world fantasy genre, and it looks like a mixed blend of Genshin Impact meets GTA. Developed by Hotta Studio, the game developers who brought the world Tower of Fantasy, the original dubbed competitor of Genshin, Neverness to Everness looks to expand on the light sci-fi style and anime aesthetics with a futuristic city with supernatural elements.
For context, Neverness to Everness will utilise Unreal Engine 5 to construct its detailed cityscape. The game will also employ the Nanite Virtualized Geometry systems to elevate the realism of each scene, allowing players to immerse themselves in the futuristic city.
In addition, the game will boast cutting-edge NVIDIA DLSS rendering and ray tracing technology, bringing the supernatural metropolis of Hethereau to life. To further understand the upcoming open-world RPG, let’s look at what we gathered thus far below.
Everything to Know About Neverness to Everness
Announcement and Gameplay Trailer
The release of Neverness to Everness was an unexpected welcome on July 16, as the game announced its title via an announcement and gameplay trailer on its YouTube page, which has 79k and 75k views, respectively. As for the Chinese side Bilibili, the combined trailer has racked up 404k views, with 14k people already pre-registering for the game.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s dissect what the trailers entail. For starters, Neverness to Everness aims to deliver a free-to-play open-world exploration and combat packed with quests and collectables. Besides the open-world and anime aesthetic combination resembling Genshin, the trailer depicts players meeting up with partners and friends with various Esper abilities to help solve upcoming crises and gradually fit into the everyday life of this new city.
Moreover, players can modify sports cars, challenge race missions, manage businesses, buy houses and more to experience a vibrant urban life like in GTA. It marks a change in open-world games as Zenless Zone Zero also tends to focus more on how characters spend their daily lives when they are not away saving the world.
Lastly, the game’s visuals are breathtakingly stunning as every corner of the city, from antique shops to convenience stores, is meticulously crafted with furnishing and decor and brimming with details. For example, the innermost sections of Hethereau exude the dark atmosphere expected of a somewhat cyberpunk setting, and the city’s skyscrapers and towering buildings play with vibrant and eye-enticing colours.

Story and Adventure

As mentioned earlier, Neverness to Everness unfolds in the unique world where the ordinary and extraordinary coexist in Hethereau, a city teeming with anomalies and humans alike. We, as players, are residents of the metropolis and will have to deal with these sudden appearing anomalies with our Esper Ability to prevent a broad spectrum of effects, ranging from minor inconveniences to major crises.
In our journey, we will also meet up with new NPCs and companions to tackle mysteries that abound in Neverness to Everness, no matter how big or small. While it is still unknown whether the game is gacha-based, the promise of meeting up with new characters with unique Esper Abilities points to the likelihood of wishing for characters.
Besides the main plot, players can deviate from the routine and enjoy their daily urban lives in the metropolis by gathering accessories and items to build and decorate their houses and modifying sports cars for racing down the streets under the illustrious lights. However, this is not all, as the developers promised they would add new features and content over time.

Closing Notes
With everything considered, Neverness to Everness appears to be targeting the massive audience base of open-world RPG players with its blend mix of Genshin Impact and GTA. With Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero releasing this year and amounting to profits, it’s no surprise to see another game following their footsteps.

As for whether it will succeed, the collaboration between publisher Perfect World, the developer of many successful MMORPGs and mobile games, such as Perfect World, Jade Dynasty, and Final Fantasy Awakening and Hotta Studio, the creators of Tower of Fantasy, paints an optimistic spotlight moving forward.
