Samsung Galaxy Ring

Following in the steps of their primary competitor, Apple’s venture into AI health-tracking features, the Korean tech giant unveiled at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 its first foray into the “Smart ring”, a lightweight ring equipped with sensors designed for health monitoring 24 hours a day. Listed below are the Galaxy Ring’s key monitoring features:
- Sleep: Monitor a person’s movement during sleep, sleep latency, and heart and respiratory rate to analyse the sleep quality
- Menstrual cycle: Uses skin temperature to help track a person’s menstrual cycle.
- Heart rate: Inform users when their heart rate is unusually high or low. Users can also check their heart rate in real-time.
- Exercise: Detect the type of workout or activity a person is doing.
Moreover, according to Samsung at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the device will come in three colours, with the battery lasting up to seven days. There’s also a portable charging case, as with wireless air buds. For people interested, the Samsung Galaxy Ring will be available starting on July 24 with a price tag of $399.99.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
As one of the leading large-screen foldable devices on the market, the Galaxy Z Fold is approaching its sixth generation, and it is the lightest and thinnest Galaxy Z series yet as the tech giant is replicating their approach for their Galaxy S series with flat edges and squared-off corners. Weighing 239g, it is 14g lighter than its predecessor.

While there is little difference between the Z Fold 6 and Z Fold 5, the biggest standout to buy the former is its upgrade in Galaxy AI features. Firstly, Samsung added dual-screen live translation mode when the device is in stand mode, meaning you can view the translated phrases in your selected language from your side of the screen. In contrast, the other party can view your words translated into their local language on the cover display.
Furthermore, if you have the new Samsung Galaxy Buds 3, you can listen to the translation directly from the earbuds. Lastly, the tech giant revealed at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 that the Z Fold 6 now supports S Pen input, giving the phone generative AI features that can turn your sketches into completed images. There’s also Portrait Studio, which can turn your regular portrait shots into cartoons, 3D or watercolour effects.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Moving to the other foldable announced at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 follows Samsung’s trend of AI enhancement with an improved 3.4-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, enabling AI-assisted functions without you opening the device. For instance, FlexWindow provides you access to Samsung Health updates and notifications and allows you to select the next track you want to listen to on your music widget.
In addition, Z Flip 6 offers Suggested replies, which analyses your latest messages to suggest a tailored response to your text messages when you are on the move. Customisations also received improvements in the latest Flip phones as now you can use its AI-powered Photo Ambient, which changes wallpaper in real-time based on the time and weather.
Z Flip 6 also offers a new Auto Zoom FlexCam feature, which automatically finds the best framing for your shot by detecting the subject and zooming in and out before making any necessary adjustments. Lastly, with improved battery life and hardware and software optimisation, the extra $100 price sounds like a bargain from the $999 of its predecessor.
