Ubisoft has shared that Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is under development by Massive Entertainment. A press statement and a tweet from Massive revealed that Julian Gerighty is coming back to lead the project. He’s now putting together a team to kick off The Division 3.
Gerighty will soon take on the role of Executive Producer for The Division brand once his ongoing project, Star Wars Outlaws — where he’s the Creative Director — is released.
Having been part of Massive Entertainment since 2016, he played a significant role in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. There, he and his team showcased an exciting journey in the streets of Washington, D.C.

The Division 3 Is on Its Way

Gerighty’s main task is to assemble a top-notch team for The Division 3 at Massive Entertainment. Alongside, he aims to maintain good support for The Division 2 and work on strengthening the brand’s reputation.
He’s also eyeing other upcoming projects in The Division world, like the mobile game The Division Resurgence and the action-packed The Division Heartland.
He said in the press statement:
“We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect in The Division 3. “
“I think that we delivered that with Tom Clancy’s The Division’s cutting-edge visuals, incredible gameplay, and promise to the player that they can’t get this experience anywhere else, and then again with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. It’s about refinement, it’s about pushing the quality bar consistently forward.”

The Division 3 Release Date

Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 release date is still under wraps. Ubisoft is just kicking off this project. While the first two games had only three years between them, it’s tricky to predict based on that. With the team for the new game just forming, a 2026 release sounds reasonable.
However, two other Division games are closer on the horizon:
- The Division Resurgence: An expansive urban third-person shooter RPG tailored for mobile gameplay.
- The Division Heartland: A free game based in Silver Creek, blending PvEvP and survival-action elements. Players delve into mysteries, facing enemies, and take on challenging tasks here.
Once the upcoming Star Wars game is out in 2024, Gerighty will dive into his role for The Division series. But that’s all we have to say about The Division 3. We will continue to share the announcements that Ubisoft will make in the coming days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was The Division 2 a Flop?
Actually, labelling The Division 2 as a failure would be wrong. While it didn’t outdo the first game, its sales were decent, with the PC community particularly fond of Ubisoft’s offering. A Metacritic score of 82 indicates that critics appreciate the follow-up, too.
Will Ubisoft Continue Supporting The Division 2?
Absolutely. The Division 2, being an online-centric title, hinges on Ubisoft’s backing. The good news is that new updates are in the pipeline for the next two to three years. This assurance is from Massive Entertainment, vowing support until the release of The Division 3.
How Long Can You Play The Division 2?
The Division 2 has a wealth of content, offering potentially endless hours of gameplay. If diving into the primary storyline, you’re looking at around 25-30 hours. Venturing through the expansive world and tackling side quests might take up to 90 hours. And there’s more to relish even after that.
