Some of the features that these games have in common are:

- They all have a deep narrative.
- They’re all visually stunning games, even if some of them are more than a decade old.

The 5 Best Rockstar Games Besides the GTA and Red Dead Redemption Games
Are you done with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, Rockstar Games still has a couple of games in store for you. These are the best titles that money can buy. Beware though, not all of these games are available on next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X, PS5, or maybe the PS5 Pro which is rumoured to be in development. However, you’ll be able to play these games on PCs at a smooth frame rate of at least 30 FPS.

#1: Max Payne 3 | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Max Payne 3 puts players in the shoes of Max Payne, an ex-cop who lost his loved ones and is now a bodyguard. He comes with all the bells and whistles of a washed-up detective, such as addiction to painkillers, smoking, and alcohol. In Max Payne 3, the protagonist is hired to protect the rich family of a real estate magnate who is known as Rodrigo Branco.
The job goes AWOL when he fails as a bodyguard. Max soon takes to the street with his guns and instincts, and in the end, he triumphs. You’ll enjoy cinematic gameplay with tight gun controls and combat acrobatics in the game. Thankfully, there are tons of DLCs to enjoy because Max Payne 3 was way back in 2012. Some of the expansions are:
- Cemetery Map.
- Local Justice Pack.
- Special Edition Pack
- Painful Memories Pack.
- Silent Killer Loadout Pack.
- Hostage Negotiation Pack.
- Deathmatch Made In Heaven.
#2: Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition | Supported Platforms: PlayStation and Xbox
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is an open-world racing game with tons of activities to enjoy. In the game, you can trick your cars out by pimping the body kits, paints, rims, trims, and engines. For one, racing through the streets at 250 MPH is very much achievable. It’s an old game (Released in 2005) but it has aged like fine wine.
There’s also a nice variety of cars to pick from, likewise, there are plenty of tracks to beat. Other reasons why we love this racing title so much are:

- There is point-to-point racing, circuit racing, and speed racing.
- NOS is available for your cars, making this title a proper underground racing simulator.
- You can explore the huge sandbox as you would explore the Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2.
- The huge sandbox of Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is inspired by real-life locations like Detroit, San Diego, and Atlanta.
#3: L.A. Noire | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch
L.A. Noire is a 2011 action-adventure crime game that was developed by Team Bondi, a Rockstar Games-affiliated studio. The game follows the rise of Cole Phelps, a LAPD detective with instincts as sharp as those of a caveman. You’ll be exploring L.A. in the 1940s so you can expect to solve violent crimes.
Along the way, the lines between friend and foe are blurred as you engage in car chases, shootouts, interrogations, and clue-finding. Thankfully, it’s one of those games that have been remastered for both consoles and PCs. Heck, there are different mods available on PC to upgrade or modify the visuals even further. While the standard edition can be completed in less than 15 hours, you should purchase the complete edition, which comes with DLCs such as:
- The Naked City Vice case.
- The Consul’s Car Traffic case.
- The Reefer Madness Vice case.
- A Slip of the Tongue Traffic case.
- The Nicholson Electroplating Arson case.
#4: Bully | Supported Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, iOS, and Wii
Bully is an action-adventure game that follows the escapades of a misfit and child problem called Jimmy Hopkins. Jimmy has been expelled from every school that he has attended for a myriad of reasons, such as:
- Playing pranks on teachers and his other schoolmates.
- Beating bullies back to avoid losing face.
- Cunningly winning girls or spitefully losing them.
You’ll navigate Bullworth Academy, one of the worst schools around. Not only are the students violent and arrogant, but their teachers are corrupt too. So, the school’s authority lets their pupils get away with all sorts of crimes. In short, it’s the perfect playground for Jimmy Hopkins to wild out. You’ll outsmart tricksters, cheaters, fraudsters, and snobs on your way to the top of the Bullworth Academy’s social hierarchy.
#5: Manhunt | Supported Platforms:
Manhunt is a stealth game where you play as James Earl Cash. His name is a mouthful, but fear not; Cash is a stone-cold killer. He’s sedated instead of being executed by lethal injection because the Director (An unknown entity) needs his help. Cash receives information and missions from the Director via an earpiece. From there, our protagonist is forced to murder gang members in the dark and gritty world of Carcer City.
The Director eventually turns on Cash after he reveals that our protagonist was only acting out a snuff film. Later on, a plot twist reveals that the Director, Lionel Starkwater (A former film producer), is also affiliated with the police. So, you’re not only being pursued by gang members in Manhunt but also cops with the necessary training to kill Cash.
However, being an assassin has its perks because you can systematically eliminate foes from the shadows. Sure, you can go in guns blazing, but the most realistic approach is to strike when your opponents least expect it. Manhunt 2, the sequel, was released in 2007 and it’s better than the original game.
Our Final Say
The creative minds at Rockstar Games haven’t developed hundreds of titles, yet. However, the ones that they have made are high-quality. So, even if you don’t want to play the likes of Red Dead Redemption and GTA V, there are still other masterpieces to check out. The only issue is that most of these games are old. So, you may be unable to play some of them if you don’t have a PS3 or Wii eating dust in your room.

Rockstar Games usually milks their games for at least a decade, so they’re too busy to make new games. If GTA VI will be anywhere as entertaining as GTA V was, then we don’t want it any other way. The race is not for the swiftest but for the slow and steady. Not every studio needs to be like Ubisoft, which releases games every year or two.
