Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 fans have been on edge since Namco Bandai announced a huge free update coming to the game soon. With the game getting consistent updates since its release in 2016, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has continued to drop major updates to keep the game fresh. This update reveals a new Awoken Skill, Ultra Instinct ability, alongside many other cool features. So, let’s get right into it.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 New Awoken Skill, Ultra Instinct
The more depth there is in fighting games, the more skill expression players can use. This is what Namco Bandai aimed for when they announced the new Ultra Instinct ability, as it adds another layer of complexity during fights. Ultra Instinct allows players to automatically evade an opponent’s attack in return for a portion of their Ki. If players input an additional command, they can even launch a counterattack on their opponent.
That’s not all, though, because with the Ultra Instinct ability, your Ki Blast attack is transformed into a special attack, and you receive a power recovery technique exclusive to this Awakening Skill.
This is a powerful ability to have in your arsenal since dodging an attack automatically can turn the tide of the match, not to mention the fact that you can counterattack immediately after. In the hands of an expert player, the Ultra Instinct ability could easily be the turning point of any match if played correctly. However, that’s not always the case, and we’re sure many will fail to unlock the ability’s full potential, losing matches in the process.

How to Get Ultra Instinct Ability in DBXV2

Now that you know what the Ultra Instinct ability does, you should prepare to master this skill with your created character. To receive Ultra Instinct, you must:
- Talk to Jiren (Full Power). You can find him behind the multiplayer match NPC, beneath the steps to the Time Nest.
- After a short dialogue, he will commence a battle where you must defeat him.
- If you manage to beat Jiren (Full Power), you can master the Ultra Instinct ability.
Once you’ve acquired the ability, you can equip it onto your characters to use it in battle. We’ve got you covered if you’re still unsure how to use the ability in-game or the specific changes it brings. Keep reading to find out more about this Awakening Skill.
How to Use the Ultra Instinct Ability

First, the Ultra Instinct ability has a passive effect that lets you evade the opponent’s attacks automatically. You don’t need to do anything for this effect; it will take place once you’ve awakened in-game. However, if you want to counterattack after dodging, you can press X (For PlayStation) Or A (for Xbox) as you’re evading to launch a counterattack.
Another benefit of having the Ultra Instinct ability is that you can charge your Ki while guarding. To do this, press triangle (for PlayStation) Or Y (For Xbox) to charge your Ki. This is especially important when using the Ultra Instinct ability because every time your passive goes off to evade an attack, it charges your character 500 Ki. You also get some awesome upgrades to your regular and Ki blasts (Soaring Fist & Spirit Pulse, respectively), plus an epic transformation animation, so that’s a cool feature to look out for.
Other Features of the Big Update
We might have made you feel like the new Awoken Skill was the entire update, but there’s actually so much more in the update we’ll be covering. From trying out DLC characters for free to an entirely new game mode, DBXV2’s latest update is huge.
Welcome Campaign for New Players
There will be a Welcome Campaign dropping on October 12th with this update. This campaign allows players to try out DLC characters for free. While the campaign will only run for a limited time (12th-19th October), players can receive various login bonuses as well as play with their favourite DLC characters like Rose Goku Black and SSGSS Vegito.

3v3 Cross Versus Mode
The 3v3 Cross Versus mode is a new game mode introduced to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. This is a PvP battle mode where teams of 3 will compete against each other to either defeat all the bosses first or collect more points until the timer is up. The PvP factor comes in when you try to interfere with the enemy team’s game plan and have to engage with them.
The mode isn’t level-protected either since every player starts from the base stats and must level up as the game progresses. How much or fast you level up is entirely up to your playstyle and gameplay.
The best part about the 3v3 Cross Versus mode is that every player can contribute something to the team. Be it gathering points, defeating bosses, or slowing down the enemy team, there’s a role for everyone to join in and have fun. Players can also get unique badges for completing specific conditions during the matches, so keep an eye out for those.

Festival of Universes
The big free update by Namco Bandai also features a new event called Festival of Universes. This event features several universe options for players to choose from. Players can pick their favourite Universe and play games to earn Glory Points for their Universe. At the end of the event period, the Universe with the highest Glory Points will win special rewards.
Besides the event itself, there will be new lobbies, and rewards players can get by completing quests throughout the event duration.
Conclusion

Namco Bandai promised this Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 update to be big, and they definitely delivered on their promise. With tons of new features and events being added to the game, fans are hyped to try the new game and test out the new Awoken Ultra Instinct ability. Make sure to log in on the 12th to get ahead of the curve and find out how you can use it to your advantage!
