If you’re in the West and a fan of MMORPG games, one of 2023’s biggest disappointments will be missing out on Blue Protocol. The new free-to-play MMORPG developed by Bandai Namco has already hit the screens of Japanese gamers; However, Western players are still waiting on a confirmed release date. Till then, Bandai Namco just released a Blue Protocol closed beta for Western players to get a sense of the game. Let’s see what this period entailed.

Blue Protocol Closed Beta Release Date
If you’re just now reading this article, we’ve got some disappointing news for you. Blue Protocol’s closed beta release date has already passed, and we don’t have confirmation on when, or even if, we’re going to be getting another one anytime soon. With the full game expected to be released in the West in 2024 anyway, we’re doubtful about seeing another Blue Protocol closed beta in the future.
The first closed beta was announced by Bandai Namco and Amazon Games to take place from 8th November 2023 to 10th November 2023. It was only designed for North America and European regions, and even within those regions, the closed beta was only released for PC, not for Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. While all of these might sound disappointing, we can assure you these were only for the Blue Protocol closed beta and not for the full game.
It should also be noted that this was a closed beta, unlike many other pre-release periods for games. This meant not everyone would be able to participate in it, and those who did would need to sign NDAs. This was to ensure that none of the gameplay would get leaked through streams or clips made by the players. Bandai Namco and Amazon Games didn’t want to ruin the surprise for the greater gaming community through the Blue Protocol closed beta but getting some early feedback before release is always helpful.
How to Join Blue Protocol Closed Beta?

The first thing we should clarify for all our readers once again is that the closed beta has ended at the time of this article. It ran from 8th November 2023 to 10th November 2023, and we don’t have confirmation of whether or not there will be another Blue Protocol closed beta. However, if you want to know for future reference, here’s how you could have joined the Blue Protocol closed beta:
- Go to the Blue Protocol sign-up page.
- There, you’ll see a button at the top that says, “Sign in with Amazon”. Clicking it will redirect you to Amazon, where you’ll need to log in with your Amazon account details.
- Once you’ve completed this step, you’ll see a button that says, “Sign up now”. Pressing it will enter you into the pool of players trying to enter the Blue Protocol closed beta.
- Upon confirmation of your spot in the closed beta, you’ll receive an email with a unique Steam key. You can redeem it in your Steam library and will be able to pre-download the game.

Blue Protocol Closed Beta Features
We don’t know much about what the closed beta entailed with the entire NDA scenario. However, we do know that Bandai Namco and Amazon Games used this testing period to check their server status and matchmaking capabilities. It also showed them how players would interact with different parts of the game so they’d be able to smooth out any major difficulties faced by players.
Gameplay-wise, the Blue Protocol closed beta would include the player creating their own character and selecting one of five available classes. These included Blade Warden, Aegis Fighter, Twin Striker, Blast Archer, Spellcaster and Blitz Lancer. Players can choose whichever class suits their playstyle best, and they’d be comfortable upgrading. A cool thing about Blue Protocol is that, in the full game, we’re expecting a feature that will allow players to change their class down the road.
This feature might not be available as soon as you start the game or might even be under development and not be in the game’s release, but we know eventually, Bandai Namco plans to add it to the game. It is also important to note regarding Blue Protocol’s closed beta that none of the data will be carried over to the full game. This means that no one will be getting a head-start in terms of progress just because they played the beta.

The Takeaway
Blue Protocol’s release date is not too far away, with 2024 just around the corner. However, receiving another Blue Protocol closed beta before the proper release in the Western region would elate tons of players in the community. It would also help us grasp the concept and mechanics of the game to help us get a better handle on it when starting. Regardless, until we get an announcement, nothing can be said for sure.
