Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an action-adventure that’s set in the Western Frontier of Pandora. So, it’s an unseen part of the world of the Na’vis. You’ll reconnect with your past and heritage in this new game. Shoot down aerial vehicles, raid strongholds, and explore the game’s huge sandbox. That said, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a new game with unique combat mechanics and traversing systems.
To that end, we would like to break down seven must-dos early in the game that’ll give you an edge later on.

The 7 Must-Dos in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
You’ll find many guides for quickly progressing through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s campaign. However, the tips below are the cream of the crop as far as must-dos are concerned. Remember that some of these tips were shared by the game’s creators. To be more specific, Creative Director Magnus Jansén and Senior Narrative Designer Chella Ramanan recommended these seven tips. Naturally, reviewers at Player.com were excited to give them a chance and they were worth the hassle.
#1: Keep Exploring Pandora
Whatever you do, don’t stop exploring Pandora. You’ll discover different flora and fauna in the Western Frontiers to take advantage of. Sometimes, your discoveries are for entertainment purposes only. Other times, the materials that you collect in the wild will be perfect for upgrading weapons and crafting new gear. Thankfully, Pandora is a beautiful sandbox with open fields and blue skies reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s sandbox.
Having said that, the best way to explore the frontiers of Pandora is by getting a ride and to that end, you’ll have the chance to bond with an Ikran and a Direhorse. You’ll need to progress in the campaign to unlock these traversal options. However, that doesn’t stop you from taming the wilds of Pandora.
#2: Get an Ikran Early in the Game
Between an Ikran and a direhorse, we’ll always choose the flying beast because it unlocks a unique host of aerial opportunities. However, there’s no loophole for getting an Ikran before the game allows you to. So, you will have to rack up side missions, progressing through the campaign until you reach the Ikran main mission after a few hours.
On the bright side, you can go back to your side quests after getting an aerial traversal option. Also, like in games such as Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll be able to fast travel. Farming for crafting materials is a much easier affair when an Ikran is at your beck and call. Likewise, it’s also useful for finding weak points in the enemy’s strongholds.
#3: Na’vis Can Easily Ignore Fall Damage
This isn’t Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, but Na’vis can still survive great falls. They’re tall beings with hollow bones to support their tall bodies. So, it’s easier for them to ignore fall damage, unlike humans, who will suffer from splintered bones in similar situations. To that end, dropping down from one rock to another is one of the best infiltration methods for strongholds. Many enemy bases are located in valleys, so you have an opportunity to approach from the skies.
Heights that you think are too steep might not touch your Avatar’s health. Remember that this doesn’t mean you won’t take some damage but in most cases, it’s negligible. Yes, consecutive drops won’t stack up the fall damage quickly so you’re free to experiment with different heights.
#4: Stealth Is a Viable Approach to Most Combat Encounters
Stealth is always a viable option in RPGs and we’re glad that the creators thought of that too. The only problem now is that Na’vis are incredibly tall, with adults being twice the size of humans. To that end, the easiest solution is to crouch so you won’t be quickly spotted by your much shorter foes. Also, remember that your opponents are heavily armoured and equipped with LMGs.
Luckily, if you spy on a base and its soldiers long enough, you’ll discover weak points in their defences. Many times, it’s a gap between their patrol routes or an area where security is lax. So, if you’re patient enough, you’ll be assassinating targets left and right without their comrades knowing.
#5: Cook-Cook-Cook!
The great part about cooking all the time is that you’ll eventually discover the secrets of many plants. Naturally, any food you cook in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will take on the bolstering effects of the cooking ingredients. Na’vis’ immune systems are directly connected to Pandora, so their plants are effective (Maybe too effective). For one, Dapophets are plants that will heal you, while Bellspring Flowers are so potent that they can permanently increase a player’s health bar.

Cooked foods will also heal you, though the buffs that tag along are short-lived. Foods will increase your strength, speed, vision, and many more in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. So, use them more to gain an advantage in and out of combat. It’s not as good as the cooking and buffing system in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but it’s still well-detailed.
#6: Build Connections with Other Tribes
The connections that you build with other Na’vi tribes in the Western Frontier are important because they can help you unlock more gear and weapons. Without gaining a tribe’s trust, they won’t be happy to share their secrets with you. So, having those deep connections will open up a whole new avenue of crafting opportunities. The artisans also give you designs to work with and they’re unique, reminiscent of the tribe artisans from Horizon Zero West. Thankfully, all you have to do to gain their trust is complete quests for them.

#7: Use Your Na’vi Senses More
Your Na’vi Senses are far more sensitive than a human’s senses can ever be. For one, your eyes are sharper and your ears pick up other frequencies. The only way that humans are better than Na’vis is by being more technologically advanced. Think about it; The men in Na’vi came from Earth, so they’re capable of space travel, an energy-draining ordeal. However, let’s not digress; Na’vi Senses will highlight items, plants, enemies, and animals.

Our Final Say: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Delivers
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is far from a bad game due to its many features, such as a beautiful open world. The only areas where the game suffers are the story and lore departments. Hopefully, the sequel (If any) will overcome these disadvantages by introducing characters with better backstories and a more intimate plot.
