Enotria: The Last Song, the highly anticipated soulslike initially slated for a simultaneous launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, has recently hit a snag. In an official blog post from Milan-based Jyamma Games on September 2, developers of the Xbox version of the game announced an indefinite delay of the Xbox version.
In their statement, they wrote: “Hello Maskless Ones, We are thrilled to be a few weeks away from Enotria: The Last Song launching digitally on PC and PlayStation 5 on September 19. We’re also very excited to have physical PlayStation 5 editions a few months later. Unfortunately, at this time, we have to announce an indefinite delay of the Xbox version.”
“We understand how disappointing this news is to the Xbox community. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and the hard work of our dedicated team, we’ve encountered challenges that have delayed our release on the Xbox platform. We want to emphasise that this is not a decision we’ve made lightly. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause and sincerely thank you for your understanding and patience.”

Enotria: The Last Song Delayed Caused By Microsoft

Besides apologising to their fans, Jyamma Games cited unforeseen challenges in the Xbox Store submission process as the primary reason for the delay. For example, according to them, despite the game being ready for the Xbox Series X/S, the developer claims that Microsoft has been slow to respond, causing significant delays.
Jyamma CEO Giacomo “Jacky” Greco expressed his frustration with the situation on the company’s official Discord server, stating that Microsoft “decided to ignore” the developer’s efforts to meet the original release timeline. It marks the second time the Xbox version of Enotria: The Last Song has faced setbacks, as the game was previously suspended from the Xbox release schedule in March 2024, with plans to launch on the platform after the PC and PlayStation versions.
However, the developers later reversed this decision, aiming for a simultaneous release across all platforms — an ambition that now seems unattainable. In a follow-up on Twitter, Jyamma pointed out that the Xbox Series S was not to blame for the postponement, dispelling fan speculation that the console’s lower power was holding back the game’s release.
Enotria: The Last Song Will Launch Accordingly on PlayStation and PC
Despite the delay, the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of Enotria: The Last Song will still follow proceedings on September 19, albeit as digital-only editions. Jyamma Games has confirmed that a physical release for the PS5 will follow “a few months later.” The studio emphasised that its decision to delay the Xbox version was heartbreaking but remains committed to bringing the game to “as many players as possible.”
Thus, what can players expect from Enotria: The Last Song? First and foremost, following the release of a new two-minute trailer at Gamescom 2024, the game promises a deep and complex experience with 68 unlockable skills and an astounding 150 million different build combinations.
Moreover, players can expect a challenging journey as they explore a world inspired by Italian nature, filled with puzzles, secrets, and the ability to alter reality to overcome obstacles. In terms of the game’s narrative, players begin in Quinta, the City of Actors, where they take on the role of the Mask of Change. Their mission is to challenge the Authors who created the Canovaccio, an eternal play that traps the world in stasis.
This setup introduces players to a world where every character is trapped in a repeating role, and it is up to the Maskless One to disrupt this cycle and bring about change. While the game’s difficulty may be daunting, Enotria: The Last Song offers a fresh perspective on the soulslike genre with its unique blend of folklore, theatre, and creativity.
Closing Notes

With everything considered, despite the delay, excitement for the game remains high, especially given the innovative ways it integrates story and gameplay.
For those willing to invest the time and effort, Enotria: The Last Song promises a rewarding experience, blending striking visuals with a compelling story. The sun-kissed fields of sunflowers and the vibrant city of Quinta offer a stark contrast to the bleak, dark ruins typical of the genre, signalling that this is a soulslike, unlike the norm.
