Alan Wake 2 DLC Roadmap
If you’re holding out for a physical edition of Alan Wake 2, it seems you might have to wait a bit longer. Currently available only as a digital release, the game has two planned DLCs: Night Springs and The Lake House, as hinted at in the pre-order stage.
With the purchase of the Deluxe Edition, released on October 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, you’ll also get an “Expansion Pass” covering these two DLCs. However, if you’ve opted for the standard version, there’s no need to worry.
You’ll have the option to buy the Alan Wake 2 DLC expansions individually.
Night Springs
If you’ve delved into Alan Wake 2, then the name Night Springs should ring a bell. It’s the fictional TV series set within the game’s universe. Slated for release in 2024, this DLC will allow us to play through the much-talked-about episodes of the series. Sam Lake has reportedly filled this DLC with familiar characters, though precisely who we’ll encounter remains a mystery.
Throughout AW2, we’ve grown accustomed to seeing actors reprise roles from previous Remedy Entertainment titles, notably Max Payne. This precedent sets our expectations for the Night Springs DLC quite high.
The Lake House
This upcoming DLC will further unravel the narrative of Alan Wake 2. We’ll revisit the enigmatic government organisation and research facility, stepping into the shoes of Alan Wake and Saga Anderson once more. The specifics of what this add-on will reveal are still unclear, but it’s anticipated to illuminate some of the unresolved mysteries from the main game.
The Lake House, seemingly interwoven with frequent nods to Control, is already generating excitement as one of the DLC expansions for Alan Wake 2.
Our Thoughts
Sam Lake is not just immensely creative but also incredibly astute. The universe he has crafted for Alan Wake 2 is so well-conceived that it seamlessly accommodates any side story. Incorporating a TV show within the game’s universe as a DLC is a prime example of this innovative approach.
Alan Wake 2 DLC roadmap looks promising. Currently available only in a digital format, the Deluxe Edition of the game is priced at $69.99, compared to the standard edition’s $49.99. This price hike is typical for triple-A games, especially when additional content is included. Remedy Entertainment could have priced it even higher, at $89.99, but they chose not to, likely because it wasn’t necessary.
It does not appear that Alan Wake 2 will win the “Game of the Year” award at The Game Awards 2023, which will be held on December 7. Baldur’s Gate 3 will probably lead this category. However, we can certainly expect a strong showing in other categories. If things go well, the upcoming Alan Wake 2 DLC expansion will gain even more significance.
That’s everything we’ve got on the Alan Wake 2 DLC roadmap at the moment. We’ll keep you updated with new details on the expansions as they emerge. Meanwhile, feel free to check out the Alan Wake 2 mission list or voice actors.
