Mark Your Calendars: The New Fae Farm December 14th Update Promises Unprecedented Additions

Three months after its release to massive plaudits, Fae Farm will welcome its first content update next week on December 14th, with a brand new realm called Coasts of Croakia. With the game set in a world of fairies and the basic gameplay revolving around activities such as planting, harvesting, fishing, and livestock farming, it has given people the impression of a Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing hybrid.

Thus, the scores for Fae Farm are mainly positive for now, with the game receiving a 77 score on Metacritic and a 9/10 on Steam. However, to make the game stand out further and attract more fanbase, Fae Farm developers Phoenix Labs have provided the game’s first massive update with the new realm, Coasts of Croakia, featuring new exciting encounters and discoveries.

What New Additions Can We Expect From the Fae Farm Update?

Phoenix Labs has confirmed that the Coasts of Croakia update will bring a “Whole new realm to explore, with exciting encounters and discoveries.” Moreover, the update brings new characters to interact with, quests to embark upon, and an “Exciting new gameplay mechanic”. Although details regarding the upcoming update are few and far between, we can make some safe predictions from the trailer shown.

Firstly, the Coasts of Croakia realm appear to be heavily frog-theme as the video depicts players exploring the swampy new environments, encountering giant frogs, talking with some sentient frogs, navigating new dungeons, and finding some new goodies to bring back to their farms back home. Therefore, we can assume the players will buddy up with the froggy creatures as they return home.

In addition, the new region could introduce a new romance partner for players as Fae Farm follows Stardew Valley’s success in marriage candidates. However, with the limited details portrayed in the video, it is wise not to make too many assumptions and promises, as we do not even know the total size of the new location to explore, and any news regarding the new mechanic is tightly under wraps.

Is Fae Farm Worth Catching Up?

If you are debating whether to play the game after the newest updates, we highly recommend you give Fae Farm a shot. For instance, the game encapsulates a fantastic world of exploration and frivolity with aspects of magic you cannot find in other farming sim games. Stardew Valley players can attend to this as Fae Farm follows a similar game mechanic with a sprinkle of magic from Disney Dreamlight Valley and a touch of aesthetic from Animal Crossing.

To get into the knit and giddy, customisation plays a massive role in Fae Farm’s charm, and the developers did an incredible job in bringing variety to display each player’s individual charm. For example, Phoenix Labs included they/them pronouns and androgynous voices, allowing you to choose your favourite hairstyle and clothing style, regardless of your character’s gender. In addition, they added a wide range of body shapes, Hijab and Turban headdresses, dreadlocks and cornrows to accommodate people’s culture.

As for the gameplay, players can decide to live a life full of hustle and bustle or a mundane, slow life. Regardless of your preferences, Fae Farm will provide fantastic learning experiences as more adventurous players can explore the wilderness, clear dungeons, craft potions and unlockables. If you are part of the laid-back community, you can enjoy food gathering, fishing, farming and the simple daily life from summer to winter. There is also a gentle reel-when-white, rest-when-red system to keep track of your stress. 

In short, Fae Farm is a rich and gorgeous-looking life sim and farm sim experience with room for growth. Fortunately, Phoenix Labs are already taking the first step in expanding the game with a new region and hopefully fixing some glitches and minor user-enhancements in the game, such as the function of selecting letters when using a controller and the bug of Almanac opening instead of the House Storage.

Is the New Fae Farm Update Free for Players to Play?

The upcoming update is free for players playing it on Nintendo Switch and the Deluxe Edition for PC. As for players with the Standard Edition on PC, they will have to buy it upon its release or wishlist it right now on Steam.
