Google Announces Matter Compatibility for Google Nest and Android Devices

Google has announced that Matter, a new standard for smart home platforms and technology, is now available on Google Nest devices and Android devices. The Connectivity Standards Alliance, which consists of 300 companies and developed Matter, aims to make it easier to connect smart home devices across various brands. With Matter, users can easily set up and customize their smart home devices, including thermostats, window shades, door locks, and smart lighting, with Google Home.

To use Matter, users will need a hub to control their smart devices. Google Home and Nest devices, including the Google Home speaker, Google Home Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Audio, Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Wifi Pro, can serve as a hub for Matter. These devices have been automatically updated to be Matter-compatible, so users do not need to take any additional steps.

Matter-enabled Google devices are also ready to connect to Matter devices from other brands. This compatibility will make it easier for users to seamlessly integrate their smart home devices, regardless of the brand.
