Hitman 3 lets you play as the titular Agent 47, an expert infiltrator and saboteur who can assassinate targets through a variety of methods. You can snipe targets from afar, poison their food, or plant a bomb in their car. It’s a stupendous level of freedom that encourages players to spy on targets to track their habits, movements, and patterns. After which, you can exploit any weakness in their shining armor.
Nevertheless, it’s an overwhelming sandbox for new players, where the freedom of approach and sheer number of gadgets might be confusing. Thankfully, Player.com faced the same issues during our first playthrough. So, we compiled five tips for getting the most out of Agent 47 during missions.

5 Tips for Getting the Best Mission Ratings in Hitman 3
Only the best Hitman 3 players get the best mission ratings in-game. Luckily, we’re one of them and we’ve broken down the criteria for getting five stars on the regular. The closest to this rating system is experienced in the Metal Gear Solid game series.
Below are five tips for beating the AI in Hitman 3.
#1: Strategise Your Assassinations
As Agent 47, you don’t have to shoot in the dark anymore. After all, you’ve got plenty of gadgets, skills, and information as an assassin. It’s similar to Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, but you use silenced guns instead. Use those to infiltrate the mission areas and gain an unfair advantage against enemies. For one, you need all the key cards and passes to access all of the doors that separate you and your target. This just means that you must sneak past security checkpoints, which is easier said than done in Hitman 3.
Also, make sure you always destroy the camera hard drive, which is usually a large data unit with cables plugged into it. You can destroy the unit, but distract the guards first. You can as well shoot the cameras and they’ll go unnoticed by the AI, which is unrealistic. However, this is a video game so players need an edge. Just make sure that you’re not being watched by any security guards or within their hearing radius.
#2: Pick Your Tools Wisely
Similar to many of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed games, there are many missions in the game and it’s up to you to select the tools that’ll positively affect your experience. Sadly, you can only bring two items, one firearm and a smuggled tool. Don’t go for tools that won’t directly help you against the many patrol guards that surround your targets. Of course, we encourage gamers to experiment with these gadgets so they can discover the tool’s limits.
However, as far as versatility goes, the Lockpick Mk III and Coins are at the top of the list. The lockpick will let you open every door that doesn’t require a key, which makes it broken. As for the Coin, they’re more useful than you can imagine. To distract or trick a guard into investigating fake activities, just throw a Coin in any desired direction. Go in for the kill right after or sneak past the guards; The choice is yours.
You’ll get the Coin back after knocking out the guard, but how do you knock the guard out while keeping yourself hidden and safe? The perfect answer to that is Kalmer 2 Tranquilizer which is indeed perfect for calming down guards. As for the item that you’ll smuggle into the mission area, both the Emetic Poison Vial and Lethal Poison Vial are perfect for eliminating targets.
#3: Risks Aren’t Worth It
You just played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and you feel like rushing the missions. That means you’re prepared to kill the target and any guard that gets in the way. Well, you need to calm that mindset because Hitman 3 is a slow-paced title like no other. The game rewards strategists who take the time to plan, and one of the sure-fire ways that you can do that is to properly hide bodies.
Once an enemy is knocked out, find a nice spot for them to enjoy their nap while making sure “Body Hidden” comes up after you stash their bodies. NPCs in Hitman 3 aren’t only vigilant but also nosy, so don’t leave bodies in the open. Also, monitor the enemy’s patrol patterns to avoid being caught in the act.
#4: Poison Targets More
Like any action game (We’re talking about Elden Ring), it’s a popular rule of thumb among fans of Hitman 3 to always poison the targets. NPCs drink too much and if you can knock out a chef or waiter to steal their clothes, you’ll be dishing out deaths left and right. If you haven’t unlocked the Lethal Poison Vial, go for Ray Poison, which will force your targets to go to the restroom. There, you can go in for the kill because guards won’t follow their boss into the restroom.
#5: Sabotage Your Environment
Don’t forget to sabotage your environment to eliminate your targets. Thankfully, accidents are a big deal in Hitman 3, and more often than not, they don’t only kill the target. So, save before setting up the traps in case of collateral damage. To cause accidents, you need a screwdriver, wrench, and crowbar.
Afterwards, study your target’s favourite routines and then scan the area for any structural weaknesses that you can take advantage of. This includes dropping an object on your target or electrocuting them to death. Really, the choice is yours.
Our Final Say: Become a Silent Assassin in Hitman 3
The basics to getting five-star ratings on all your missions are to avoid being seen by enemies. Also, make sure there’s no collateral damage because you’re an assassin first and a serial killer second. Only kill your targets during missions to get closer to that five-star rating. Other tips to keep in mind during your playthrough are:

- NPCs mustn’t discover any dead bodies, especially from poisons and accidental deaths.
- Avoid the sight of cameras like the plague or destroy the camera recordings to complete the win.
Ultimately, experiment until you get used to the enemy AI, patterns, and different gadgets you unlock throughout the campaign. Don’t forget that you’re a freelance assassin, so your ability to keep a low profile is integral to successful missions.
